Elwyn hurriedly put his hand on her shoulder and told her to lie still.
"What happened?" Hermione asked softly. "After Harry left, I felt something was wrong. It was as if someone was hiding in the dark and watching us. I had just sent out a warning spark when I was shot down … "
"You did well, Hermione!" Elwyn briefly recounted what had just happened.
He did not mention that the person he fought was Barty Crouch Jr., but said that he did not know anyone.
"Who was that person, and why did he want to kill Mr. Crouch?" Hermione said, turning towards the direction where Mr. Crouch had disappeared. "Elwyn, what should we do now? We have to go and save him … "
Just then, there was the sound of footsteps. It was Dumbledore and Harry.
The two of them ran back and forth in a hurry, a narrow beam of light moving back and forth between the dark tree trunks.
"What happened, Elwyn?" Dumbledore asked calmly. "Where's Crouch?!"
"He ran away. Either he's wandering around in the woods, or …" Elwyn repeated what had just happened.
Dumbledore listened to Elwyn's narration and stared thoughtfully at the dark woods, understanding what Elwyn meant.
"Professor, should we go find him, or go back and call for help?" Harry asked.
"No!" Dumbledore said quickly. "Stay here and don't move. Harry, the four of you stay here."
As he spoke, he raised his wand high and pointed it in the direction of Hagrid's hut.
Something silver shot out from his wand like a pale bird, flashing between the trees.
Then, Dumbledore walked over and woke Ron up.
Ron woke up and covered the back of his head with his hands.
"It hurts me!" he cried. "He has struck me, that old lunatic has struck me. Hermione suddenly fainted. I was just about to go over to see what was going on when that crazy old man attacked me from behind! "
"Not Mr Crouch, but someone else!" whispered Harry, explaining.
Not long after, a burst of thunderous footsteps entered their ears, and Hagrid appeared, panting.
Behind him came Fang, with his bow and arrow in his hand.
"Professor Dumbledore!" he said, his eyes wide open. "Good heavens, you four. What's going on here?"
He looked around uneasily at the traces left by the battle between Elwyn and Barty Crouch Jr.
"Hagrid, please inform Professor Moody …"
"There's no need, Dumbledore!" a deep voice wheezed. "I'm here."
Moody limped out of the trees towards them, leaning on his crutch, his wand glowing.
He had changed his clothes, and there was no sign of his battle with Elwyn.
Behind him floated a stretcher, on which Krum lay, unconscious.
"I should have come sooner, if it hadn't been for this damned leg!" said Moody angrily, pointing to his artificial leg.
"Professor, what's wrong with Krum?" said Ron in surprise, looking at Krum behind Moody.
"He's fainted. Looks like he was attacked," said Moody gruffly, his magic eyes moving rapidly.
Elwyn remembered that he had been burned by the magic fire, but now he looked as if nothing had happened to him. That was really …
"Krum was badly hurt. I think someone wanted to kill him. Luckily, I was patrolling in the forest and found him! "
Hearing Moody's words, Harry, Ron, and Hermione all turned to look at Elwyn.
"Alright, I did attack him, but he didn't faint or get hurt when I left." Elwyn sighed, and told them everything that had happened between him and Krum, as well as the barrier spell he used at the end.
He never thought that Krum would run into Barty Crouch Jr. This guy was really unlucky!
"Professor, it definitely wasn't Elwyn. It was the person who was after Mr. Crouch." Harry said hurriedly. "That person must have met Krum in the forest and injured him."
"That's right!" Hermione said anxiously. "I can prove that Elwyn …"
"Quiet, Miss Granger!" Moody shouted. "Did you just mention Crouch?!"
"Yes, he disappeared into the forest. We have to find him!" Dumbledore said, examining Krum. "Hagrid, hurry and call Professor Kakarov over. We have to inform him about this."
"Oh, okay, no problem, Professor!" Hagrid looked at Elwyn and the other three worriedly.
Then, he turned and disappeared into the dark forest, Fang Ya jogging after him.
Moody also got the gist of what happened from Harry and Ron. He raised his wand.
"Damn it, I didn't see them just now. I'm going to find Crouch now!" he said, limping into the forest.
The rest of them did not speak. Dumbledore looked at Moody's back calmly and did not stop him.
He was probably going to deal with Mr. Crouch's body now.
"Professor, is Krum okay?" Hermione asked worriedly.
"He's fine, but he needs to rest for a while!" Dumbledore said.
After a while, they heard movement again. There was no doubt that Hagrid and Fang Ya had returned.
Kakarov hurried after them. He was wearing a smooth, silvery fur robe. His face was pale and he looked worried.
"What happened?" he exclaimed when he saw Krum lying on the ground. "What happened?!"
"Igor, he was attacked!" Dumbledore said. "It's …"
Before he could finish, Kakarov suddenly straightened his body and pulled the fur robe tightly around him. His face was pale.
"Enough, it's all a lie!" He pointed at Dumbledore and roared. "I finally understand. This is a conspiracy! You and your Ministry of Magic tricked me here with a false excuse. Dumbledore, this is not a fair competition! First, you secretly put Weasley in the competition, even though he is too young! Now, you want to make my warrior lose the ability to fight! I can smell deception in this whole thing! And you, Dumbledore, you keep talking about improving the relationship between the international wizards, restoring the good relations of the past, and forgetting the differences of the past. Now I know what kind of person you are! "
Kakarov spat at Dumbledore's feet. In the blink of an eye, Hagrid grabbed the front of Kakarov's fur robe, lifted him up, and slammed him against a nearby tree.
"Apologize!" Hagrid roared. Kakarov was gasping for breath.
Hagrid's thick fist was against his throat, and his feet were suspended in the air.
"Hagrid, stop!" Dumbledore shouted, his eyes flashing sharply.
Hagrid loosened his hand that nailed Kakarov to the tree, and Kakarov slid down the trunk.
