Zhao Lie, Zhao Chong, and the six tough bandits held their guns against Gu Zhengyang, Han Te, and Coloured Glaze while they crawled to the deck step by step.
It was absolutely quiet outside, enshrouded in a layer of unpredictable black fog. It was as if an iron-shelled ship had sailed into a ghostly world despite the absence of wind.
Even the few bandits who had been through hundreds of battles in the Bloody Worlds were sweating hard, and their teeth were clattering uncontrollably.
Even though Gu Zhengyang, Han Te, and Coloured Glaze had been pushed to the front as meat shields, they could not allay the uneasiness in their hearts.
"What's going on? Where is everybody?"
"Why have all the sounds of fighting died down? Isn't the Black Water Gang attacking in the front?"
"Where are Ma Ku and Fei Zhong exactly?"
Everybody stepped on the deck that was enshrouded in black fog in fear. They felt that the stars in the sky and the mystic rays from their Crystal Suits were all swallowed by the fog. Everything two to three meters away was blurry and indistinct. They could not see where the railing of the ship was at all.
Exploring all the way to the head of the ship, they finally found a Crystal Suit standing in the middle of the black fog. Overjoyed, the captain extended his hand to grab it, only to discover that the Crystal Suit collapsed as if it were made of glass, turning into glittering pieces and components on the ground!
Everybody's heart was bombarded by the clinking noises like hailstones.
A chill that felt like an icicle was rising from the heart of the captain and Zhao Lie at the same time.
Compared to the dominating super forces in the 'Elysian World', although the crystal suits under the control of the Red Fire Gang were the lowest-level MP models, and most of them were unbranded goods that had been maintained and refurbished multiple times, they were still the 'kings of magical equipment' with the highest defense ability after all.
But right now, it had been restored into the most fundamental components like a butcher dissecting a cow. Even the lens the size of a fingernail had been dismantled.
What was most terrifying was that the components of the Crystal Suit after being dissected were still standing like an intact Crystal Suit. It did not collapse until an external force pushed it!
Between the pieces of the Crystal Suit, there were no body parts or blood stains. It was as if the robber who was wearing the Crystal Suit had evaporated into thin air.
The gang leader and Zhao Lie looked at each other and swallowed their saliva at the same time. Their feet did not leave the ground and they moved forward inch by inch.
They still didn't find half a corpse, but they did find a black silhouette of a human on the deck. It looked like a person had been lying on the ground and was burning fiercely. Even the deck had a clear outline and was slightly sunken in.
The deck was made of metal, so it was not difficult to burn a black mark. However, to melt and sink slightly, the temperature had to be extremely high.
It wasn't hard to imagine what would happen to a body of flesh and blood that was being burned like that — it would probably be completely turned into ashes without leaving a single trace behind.
Just as the bandit leader and Zhao Lie were swallowing their saliva and shuddering in fear, the black fog around them finally dissipated a little, allowing them to see further and hear heart-wrenching screams of agony.
It was exactly Ma Ku's voice!
All the tough bandits were greatly shocked. When they broke through the black fog, the first person they saw was not Ma Ku but Fei Zhong.
The brutal bandit, who was notorious in Double Dragons Valley for his perverted mind and his favorite hobby of torturing and killing innocent people, had been stripped of his Crystal Suit, and he was kneeling on the ground in a weird posture that seemed to be 'begging for mercy'. The fat on his face was no longer shivering, indicating that he had been killed a long time ago.
His face couldn't have been more twisted, as if his facial organs were scrambling to crawl out of his fat, trying to escape from his head. His lower body was also stained with a large cluster of brown stains that emitted a stinky stench. He had been so scared that he had pissed himself!
"What kind of strength could have taken off Fei Zhong's Crystal Suit without a sound, killed the unparalleled bandit, and made him beg for mercy before he was killed?"
Zhao Lie, Zhao Chong, the bandit leader, and all the tough bandits seemed to have fallen into an unbelievable nightmare. Their nerve endings were stinging as if they were being stabbed by needles.
At this moment, Ma Ku staggered out of the black fog.
The crystal suit on his body was gone, too, revealing his body that was shivering like a bamboo pole. He was supposed to be a fearless, brutal bandit, but the expression on his face right now was that of a panicked little girl. His shrieks were high-pitched and low, like a hen whose throat had been cut.
"Boss Ma!"
Seeing his deformed appearance, the few tough bandits felt that their blood was freezing. They did not know whether or not they should go forward and help him, or they should just run away.
Ma Ku's eyes had turned into the color of blood. The pupils and the sclera of his eyes could not be seen at all. When he saw everybody, he seemed to have seen the most dreadful monster. The panic on his face turned into panic, and large clusters of black blood spurted out of his nostrils and mouth. While he was running, he suddenly fell to his knees and shrieked, "Don't come here! You are all dead! You have all been killed by me. Why are you still looking for me? Ahhhhh, don't come over! "
He was in so much pain that he rolled around on the ground. Irregularly shaped wounds actually appeared on his body for no reason. They didn't look like they were cut by a sharp blade, but more like they were forcefully bitten by someone's teeth and nails. His skin and flesh were lacerated, and blood was spurting wildly. It was a horrible sight to behold.
As he screamed, Ma Ku grabbed his head with both hands. His eyeballs bulged out of their sockets, and in the end, they exploded with two popping sounds.
Blood spurted out from his eye sockets like a fountain. It was unclear whether it was because he had forcefully squeezed his skull to the point of bursting, or if there was some other strange force that was causing trouble in his mind. The murderer who pursued the principle of "perseverance, one kill a day" slumped to the ground, twitching. His death was as ugly as it could be.
This scene caused the legs of all the bandits to freeze.
Or rather, the hard deck seemed to have turned into a sticky swamp, from which hundreds of pale, rotten hands extended out and tied their legs tightly, making it impossible for them to move forward.
"Gurgle gurgle, gurgle gurgle gurgle."
In the black fog, an enormous object that looked like an altar was moving close slowly. It turned out to be a somewhat clumsy tracked spiritual puppet.
The dark red indicator light flickered mysteriously. The chainsaw and drill emitted a cold light that could not be hidden by the darkness of the night. The grinning 'Fiend Star' painted on the steel shell looked like a hideous grin after it was stained with a string of tiny blood stains.
"How, how is this possible?"
The bandits, Zhao Lie, and Gu Zhengyang were all dumbfounded. None of them believed that it was a seemingly clumsy and crude spiritual puppet that had tortured and killed Ma Ku and Fei Zhong on the deck without a sound.
"Kill it, or none of us can leave!"
Zhao Lie roared crazily and opened fire at the spiritual puppet first.
All the bandits' nerves were stretched to the limit. With someone taking the lead, in an instant, everyone vented their strongest firepower and deepest fear, setting off a metal storm on the front deck!
Zhao Lie, however, grunted the moment everybody opened fire. He seemed to have been blown backward brutally by an invisible force.
But he did not forget to grab his son and push Gu Zhengyang, Han Te, and the Coloured Glaze from behind when he was blown away, pushing them to the center of the battlefield so that he could escape at a higher speed.
Dragging Zhao Chong, Zhao Lie fled to the stern without caring about anything.
Feeble screams echoed behind him. The storm of bullets only lasted half a second before it came to an abrupt end.
The spiritual puppet butchered the bandits as if it were swatting a few annoying mosquitoes.
Zhao Lie was so scared that his heart was almost falling apart. Zhao Chong was even more scared out of his wits.
When the father and son rushed to the stern, their legs were pierced through by bullets from more than ten directions brutally.
Pa! Pa! Pa!
Pa! Pa! The joints of the legs of the Crystal Suit, as well as their knees and ankles, were all blown up. The two of them screamed at the same time and rolled on the deck, leaving intense traces of blood.
Looking around, they discovered that the large-scale bloody battle in the front of the Village of Peace had come to an end at some point. The only things left were the sparks and the collisions of blades. Almost a hundred searchlights illuminated the lake as if it were daytime. Dozens of speedboats that were fully loaded with crystal cannons and heavy storm bolters were circling the Village of Peace in circles.
Even if they could jump into the water, there would be no way for them to escape.
"Dad!"
Zhao Chong couldn't have panicked more. Tears of regret flowed out of his eyes, making him seem like a completely different person compared to his arrogant self a moment ago. He shouted, his voice shivering, "What do we do? What do we do? "
"Don't be hasty. I've made full preparations!"
Zhao Lie's eyes dimmed, and the muscles on his lips trembled. Looking at the tracked spiritual puppet that was approaching them in the black fog, he scratched his son's head and gnashed his teeth. "I've made thorough arrangements at the stern. As long as you jump down, you will have a slim chance of survival. I'll help you resist them here for a while. Run now. Run to the Bloody Worlds!"
"What?"
Zhao Chong was confused, overjoyed, and sad. "Then, Dad, you —"
Hardly had he concluded his sentence when all the brilliance in his eyes froze, leaving only indescribable horror and bewilderment.
This was because Zhao Lie had stabbed a dagger into his head through his lower jaw. His spirit energy surged out and destroyed all his brain tissues in an instant.
Zhao Chong could not say anything anymore. He collapsed in his father's cold arms.
"I'm sorry, son."
Tears of blood flowed out of Zhao Lie's eyes as he mumbled, "Fei Zhong was right. There are a million things that are even more dreadful than death in the Land of Sins. With your personality and your strength, you will not survive in the Bloody Worlds … Twenty years ago, I tasted the feeling of wishing I was dead. I will never let you … suffer the pain that I went through in the past!"
While talking, he smiled miserably. Zhao Lie looked at the tracked spiritual puppet that was slowly crawling close, as well as Gu Zhengyang, Han Te, and the Coloured Glaze who blinked out from behind the spiritual puppet.
Gu Zhengyang and the rest of them did not expect that Zhao Lie would be so cruel as to give his son a quick death when he saw that there was no hope to escape!
"Captain Zhao …" Gu Zhengyang said solemnly.
"Cut the crap, leader. Winners take all. It happens every day in the Land of Sins. What's so strange about it?"
Weird green light beamed out of Zhao Lie's face. Pausing for a moment, he could not help but say, "If I say that everything I've done is for the Village of Peace to survive, would you believe me?"
Gu Zhengyang was silent.
"Also," Zhao Lie said, "if you had adopted my suggestion a few years earlier, and we had conquered all the villages in the hundred square kilometers around and expanded the capability of the Village of Peace by five times, I would never have joined the Red Fire Gang or the Black Water Gang but would have fought side by side with you against the bandits to the end to establish our hegemony. Would you have believed me?"
Gu Zhengyang sighed and nodded his head. "I do."
Zhao Lie was slightly dazed. His eyes gradually froze, and he took the last breath of air. "Forget it. It doesn't matter now. Did you know, leader? Living is really f * cking tiring."
The moment the dagger was stabbed into his son's head, he bit the venom sac inside his back molar.
