When the Colossus, which was painted in deep purple and looked like a scorpion with the lightning emblem of the Imperium embedded on the breastplate, appeared in front of him, Helian Lie felt that his nose was sour, and he almost burst into tears.
He felt that the good luck that had not blessed him in the past hundred years had all burst out on this day and this second!
Never in his wildest dreams did he expect that he could struggle on the battlefield for more than twelve hours when he was heavily wounded and drained of spiritual energy. He miraculously dodged the bombardments of the mystic ray cannons, the bullets of spiritual energy, and the attacks of the enemy's Crystal Suit, crossed the lines of fire, drifted all the way to this place, and encountered the strongest slaughter machine of the Imperium of True Human Beings!
Could there be a better ending than witnessing the unparalleled power of the Colossus of the Imperium before his death?
Helian Lie was followed by a couple of his comrades from the Heaven's Origin Fleet. They were the remnants of the soldiers that he found when he was cleaning the battlefield for the magazines and power units on the debris of the Crystal Suit. The remnants of the soldiers were all as heavily wounded as he was, and they were barely hanging on with the bionic repair gels and strengthening drugs of the Crystal Suit. They were like a few candles that had been burnt to the end but could not bear to die out.
They were floating like clusters of inconspicuous space garbage. Seeing that the federation was in a mess and that no one would come to their rescue, instead of waiting for death in the cold and lonely tin cans, they might as well face the fiercest cannon fodder and give themselves a quick death.
The remnants of the soldiers all had the same purpose. Under the lead of Helian Lie, they formed a suicide squad and marched forward against the light of ten thousand suns, all the way to this place, right in front of the Colossus of the Imperium.
The laughter of the remnants of the soldiers echoed in the small-scale tactical communication channel that was established temporarily.
'Rabid Dog' Helian Lie was not a man who opened his heart easily. Most of the time, both in the army and at home, he was taciturn and ready to bite anybody at any moment.
However, sensing that his life was slipping away bit by bit, and seeing the fiery swirls that were revolving at a high speed in all directions, he opened his mouth without him knowing it, talking and listening to a lot of things incessantly, just like all the remnants of the soldiers.
Now, he could tell the identity of the defeated soldiers from their different laughter. He could tell the little guy who had just graduated from the military academy and couldn't wait to get a medal, the veteran who was still worried about his children's marriage even though half of his heart had exploded, and the captain who was ready to go home and get married after the battle.
They were all ordinary people who had never thought of, nor could they, be heroes. They were just like the thousands of common soldiers in the space battlefields who looked like dandelions.
But since the heavens had forced them to this point and brought them before the Colossus of the Imperium, at the very least, they did not cower.
Helian Lie took one last look at the central battlefield.
On the heated, crimson battlefield, the flagships of the Burning Prairie Fleet and the Black Wind Fleet, the unparalleled experts of the Federation and the Imperium, and the dominating big shots were having a magnificent final battle. Perhaps the outcome of the war would be decided by them, wouldn't it?
So what? The big shots had their own battles, and they had their own battles. His battlefield was here, and he would never retreat!
"Major Helian, what are you waiting for? Isn't it just an insignificant Colossus?"
The roars of the defeated soldiers echoed in the communication channel. "You are a man who was bold enough to beat up 'Vulture Li Yao'!"
Indeed.
Helian Lie grinned.
Li Yao's face seemed to have grown on the iron skull of the Colossus of the Imperium. After so many years, he could no longer remember what Li Yao looked like in his youth. He was probably similar to the righteous, sharp-eyed, and resolute guy in the brochures.
He spat a mouthful of blood in disdain and shot out everything that could be launched on him together with the defeated soldiers.
"Open your eyes and look carefully, b * stard. This is the Tian Yuan Realm, and we are the Heaven's Origin Fleet of the Union Army!"
The storm-like firepower successfully attracted the attention of the Colossus of the Imperium. The deep purple scorpion lunged at them with more than ten subordinates.
They emptied the last crystal box and the last bullet in satisfaction. Thankfully, they still had chainswords, vibration sabers, fists, and teeth.
When the Colossus of the Imperium slashed him in half from his left shoulder with a saber more than ten meters long, Helian Lie felt that the hundred-year grudge between him and the wretched heavens had been written off.
His only regret was that the furious killing intent of the enemy had locked onto every muscle on his body, making it impossible for him to make any sound.
Of course, even though he still had the ability to roar, because he had been listening to the ordinary and plain stories told by the remaining soldiers all the way, he seemed to have forgotten to think of a few words that were worthy of being shown on stage.
"Has my life been worth it?"
Helian Lie was an expert at the peak of the Core Formation Stage after all. Even though his fleshly body had been chopped into halves, his broken soul could still struggle for a few minutes after all. He spent the few minutes thinking deeply and did not notice that Fishbone, which was disguised as a remnant of a starship, had dodged the blockage of the Colossi of the Imperium because of their suicidal attack and rushed toward Black Swirl from the flank!
On Silver Moon …
Jin Xinyue covered her mouth subconsciously as she watched the Colossus of the Imperium slaughtering the defeated soldiers of the Heaven's Origin Fleet. She was almost screaming.
"Now in the striking distance and ready to be detonated at any moment. Estimated to be in the range of complete destruction in five minutes!"
Everybody who heard the heavenly voice took off their hats at the same time. There was no telling whether they were rubbing their hats in their hands to ease their nervousness or to pay respect to the remaining soldiers of the Heaven's Origin Fleet who had no name!
Deep inside Black Swirl …
An agitated devil soul was jumping crazily. Tremendous images of the battlefield were being absorbed, analyzed, and integrated in its energy waves.
One of the waves suddenly turned into a sharp sawtooth and protruded high!
"Not good!"
Even when he was faced with Burning Prairie head-on and bombarded by the giant cannons, Lu Qingchen's voice had never been so sharp and disordered. "We've been fooled! Dodge in time. Block it. Destroy it! "
Like a bull that had been stung by a venomous scorpion, Black Swirl 'jumped' high in the sea of stars and changed its course crazily without caring about the cost, having no time to care about the battle formation and the internal structural damage.
Countless starships of the Imperium also turned their cannons and aimed at Fishbone. The destructive waves of light were all ready to be launched!
However, starships were not human fingers after all. From the analysis of the enemy's situation to the delivery of the order to the reactions of the battle units on the starship, it was billions of times longer than the transmission of bioelectricity from the brain to the nerve endings.
When the barrage of fire was finally about to burst out, Fishbone had already broken through to within a hundred kilometers of Black Swirl!
On Silver Moon …
"The enemy has discovered Fishbone. Black Swirl is accelerating and changing its course. There is no time to move forward. Detonate it now!"
Jin Xinyue made the decision quickly. She almost smashed the bones of her hands on the control panel!
"Boom-"
Deep inside the sea of stars, in the middle of the interconnected lines of fire, in the middle of the iron beasts of the Black Wind Fleet, an insignificant bubble exploded.
In the one millisecond after it was born, it was merely a bubble no larger than a cell at the center of a dark gray metal ball. It neither made any sound nor emitted any radiation.
But a microsecond later, it suddenly expanded at a speed unimaginable to human beings, stirring up endless ripples that spread in all directions with the momentum of sweeping away thousands of soldiers!
Spiritual shields, interferential force fields, composite armors, Crystal Suits, space shuttles, starships … Nothing could resist its invisible tides.
It was because it was not 'destroying' at all but 'twisting' and 'transferring'. It was merely opening a temporary gap between one end of the universe and the other end so that everything that happened to be on the top of the gap would 'fall' into it!
In a moment, an unforgettable scene took place on the battlefield.
Including part of Black Swirl, many Crystal Suits, Colossi, and even starships of the Imperium suddenly turned transparent, as if they were made of translucent crystals. Even the internal organs of the Yuanying -level Immortal Cultivators hiding inside the Colossi could be seen clearly.
Then, the 'crystals' began to revolve and stretch, turning into an enormous three-dimensional swirl.
Some starships tried their best to get away from the attraction of the swirl, only to be dissected into pale streaks of brilliance that fell into the deepest part of the swirl like noodles. It was needless to mention the tiny Crystal Suits, space shuttles, and Colossi. They could not even struggle before they were sucked into the 'broken void' state together with screams.
The vortex was like an insatiable gluttonous beast. After receiving a large number of sacrifices, it was still expanding at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Helian Lie's remaining soul had not completely perished yet. He was still within the radius of destruction of the wormhole bomb.
He could neither escape nor struggle. Instead, he perceived the most glamorous, brilliant wonders of the universe in a way that was entirely different from the living people.
The chaotic spiritual waves of the Black Wind Fleet made his remaining soul vaguely sense that the colorful, enormous swirl seemed to be caused by a certain new weapon of the Union Army.
The critical strike seemed to be somehow related to him, too.
However, it did not matter anymore.
Everybody had their own destiny, and the path of the future had been unfolded before their eyes. He felt lucky that he could see the path that he had been on and the path that he was going to walk on before his death. His life was worth it!
At the last moment before his remaining soul perished, the 'Rabid Dog' completely let go of the obsession that had bothered him for a hundred years. He was Helian Lie. What did it have to do with him whether he was a vulture or a pheasant?
"Li Yao, go eat sh * t."
