Li Yao sat down next to the Iron Commander's body and took out more than ten spiritual energy rods made of the fat of demon beasts, the roots of demonic plants, and the powder of marrow crystals. He bit the seals on the rods hard and absorbed all the surging energy. It was not until he swallowed more than ten spiritual energy rods in a row that he regained some strength.
"Little Black!"
When he launched the last attack, Li Yao vaguely sensed that something was wrong with the Black Wing Sword. At this moment, he finally summoned some strength and peeled off the broken Mystic Skeleton Battlesuit piece by piece, pulling the Black Wing Sword out of the remains of the crystal suit.
He discovered that Black Wing was riddled with cracks the width of a finger. It seemed to be completely deformed and should have been broken into pieces.
But inside every crack was a bottomless blackness. When he extended his spiritual threads into the cracks, he felt that he had entered a bottomless abyss. He was enshrouded in a weird mist and could not touch the soul of Black Wing at all!
Li Yao recalled the 'Occult Orbs Card' that he had received before he joined Occult Orbs Fellowship. At that time, a vast world seemed to have been hidden inside the card that was as thin as a cicada's wing. However hard his spiritual threads probed, it was barely possible for him to analyze it clearly.
The Occult Orbs Card was a relic from the Star Ocean Imperium in a certain world fragment.
The anomalies of Black Wing were somewhat similar to those of the Occult Orbs Card, except that it felt much more advanced than the Occult Orbs Card.
There was no telling where Little Black's soul was hiding inside Black Wing and did not respond to his shouts at all.
"Little Black, what's wrong with you? Wake up!"
Li Yao was very anxious. The Black Wing Sword had followed him for twenty years. It had gone through countless trials and tribulations with him. In Li Yao's heart, Little Black was no longer a simple flying sword. It was more like a good friend that was connected to his heart.
Besides, it was the only thing that his foster father had left for him!
There were still infinite secrets about Little Black and his foster father that had not been uncovered yet.
In the past, he had been too weak to notice them. But now that he had broken into the Yuanying State and traveled extensively, the more he thought about it, the more he felt that his foster father was immeasurable.
His foster father had said that he had once traveled across dozens of worlds. When the young Li Yao heard this, he did not understand the weight of this sentence and even took it as his foster father's drunken words.
In the past few years, he would occasionally think about it, but every time he thought about it, he would be shocked.
He had only traveled through three Upper-Class Worlds, and he already had such a wonderful life. His foster father had traveled through dozens of Upper-Class Worlds? If that was the case, then what a thrilling journey it would be!
Who was his foster father? Where did he come from? Why did he end up in the Tian Yuan Realm at the edge of the sea of stars? What was up with the Black Wing Sword? This flying sword seemed to have a life of its own, and was even sealed by some kind of power?
Before, Li Yao had planned to settle everything in the Tian Yuan Realm, facilitate the preliminary cooperation among the Heaven's Origin Sector, the Flying Star Sector, and the Blood Demon Sector, and settle the minor apocalypse before he tried to figure out the answers to his questions.
One must know how to repay kindness. His foster father had raised him for ten years and imperceptibly taught him countless cultivation techniques, which had laid an incomparably solid foundation for him to advance by leaps and bounds in the future.
If his foster father had been wronged and had been forced to flee to the Tian Yuan Realm, Li Yao would certainly seek justice for his foster father!
At the very least, he had to figure out his foster father's identity and see if he had any other family members. Then, he would spread the news of his foster father's death so that his foster father's life could be explained clearly!
But right now, the Black Wing Sword was in such a weird state that it seemed to be on the verge of breaking apart at the slightest touch.
The environment here was too shabby. Li Yao did not dare act recklessly. He could only take out a cluster of the fat of demon beasts from his Cosmos Ring and smear it on the Black Wing Sword carefully. Then, he wrapped the sword in a soft skin from the abdomen of a demon dragon and sent it into his Cosmos Ring for him to rest.
After he returned to the inland, he would find a well-equipped, high-end refining workshop and study the sword more deeply.
Taking a deep breath, Li Yao calmed himself down and observed the environment.
After the death of Iron Commander Zhou Hengdao, the thunderstorms in the Dark Desolate Domain seemed to have been significantly weakened, especially where they were. Because of the collision of their most powerful spiritual energy, they had created a stable area where there was barely any spiritual energy disturbance!
There might not be enough time to search for Burning Prairie in the depths of the Dark Desolate Domain. Li Yao could only take the risk and adopt a more direct approach!
He retrieved dozens of metal sticks that had been carved with complicated rune arrays from his Cosmos Ring and stuck them around him in a circle. With the metal sticks as the foundation, he crossed, fixed, and raised them, eventually assembling a piece of large magical equipment that looked like an iron cage.
At the top of the 'iron cage', there was a telescopic antenna that extended more than ten meters into the sky and unfolded a metal net. Zi! Zi!
Zi! Zi! Zi! Zi!
Zi! Zi! Zi! As the rune arrays were slowly activated, electric arcs were dancing inside the 'iron cage'. The metal sticks shivered softly and resonated with Li Yao's brainwaves, amplifying his brainwaves by countless times!
The 'iron cage' was sort of another form of the 'spiritual tower'. With its help, Li Yao had turned himself into a 'communication base', which allowed him to release his telepathic thoughts to the surroundings incessantly through the antenna and the metal net.
However, the transmission distance of such a 'communication base' was very limited. Also, it was still stormy and thunderous deep inside the Dark Desolate Domain. The interference was quite serious.
There was no telling whether or not the enemy could receive his message.
Time was of the essence, and Li Yao had no time to bother. He glanced at the thousands of remnants of the soldiers of the past that were scattered on the ground. All kinds of illusions were popping up in his eyes. He vaguely saw the federal army and the Cultivators who had sworn to protect everybody in the Battle of Broken Wind two hundred years ago.
Those seniors were all around him. None of them were looking at him. Everybody was looking at the distance.
It was because he seemed to have become one of them, a common member.
There were no drums. No roars. The only sound was the fluttering of the Rising Dragon of the Nine Stars flag in the wind!
In the middle of the fluttering of the flag, Li Yao sat cross-legged and focused his attention on his abdomen, broadcasting to the entire Dark Desolate Domain.
"Brothers of the Union Army participating in the 'Furious Fist' drill, Cultivators cooperating with the Union Army, allies from the Flying Star Sector, I am Li Yao, and I am broadcasting to you from the south of the Dark Desolate Domain. This is an 'order' from Jiang Hailiu, Speaker of the Federation!
"The content is as follows …
"I repeat. Every drill participant who hears this broadcast, please abort all the drills immediately. Abort immediately!"
Li Yao's telepathic thoughts spread out like ripples under the surging electric arcs.
The ripples were so feeble that they were like tiny butterflies flapping their wings helplessly in a storm.
Li Yao stared at the storm and the clouds far away. His head was splitting, and his head was dizzy. He felt that his brain was flowing out of his nostrils and ears.
But he did not stop. Instead, he exploited his brain cells again and again, triggering more telepathic thoughts and sending them to the depths of the Dark Desolate Domain.
"Brothers of the Union Army, fellow Cultivators from the Flying Star Sector …"
In the north of the Dark Desolate Domain, in the middle of the storm, Burning Prairie finished the maintenance of all the units.
"The space jump array has been examined. All the faults have been corrected. It is ready to be activated at any moment!"
Luoxingzi, Ji Wende, and the other leadership of the Burning Prairie Fleet were all pacing back and forth on the bridge, looking at the time anxiously.
"Why isn't Iron Commander back yet? What was that powerful wave of spiritual energy a moment ago? Should we set off now, or should we wait for orders? "
Zhou Tieyi, the captain of Zhou Hengdao's guards, vaguely sensed something. He sat down in the buffer rune arrays and stared at the interconnecting tubes of spiritual energy above the bridge in a daze.
Right then, the signaller on the starship jumped to his feet and ripped off his earmuffs. He was too shocked to say anything and waved his hands crazily in midair.
"What's going on?"
Luoxingzi frowned. "Have you reached out to the rear?"
The signaller bit his tongue for a long time but still failed to utter a complete sentence. Therefore, he simply turned on the external broadcast of his communicator. Immediately, thunderous noises were echoing from the hundreds of broadcast rune arrays large and small on the bridge at the same time. In the middle of the interference of the noises, a feeble, seriously twisted, and yet endless voice was heard.
"Brothers of the Union Army, fellow Cultivators from the Flying Star Sector, I am Li Yao. I am now broadcasting to all troops in the Dark Desolate Domain that Speaker Jiang Hailiu has issued the highest 'command'. The content is as follows!"
The same voice echoed above every troop deep inside the Dark Desolate Domain. Some of the soldiers of the Union Army who heard the 'command' were shocked, some were dumbfounded, some were filled with indignation, and some of the members of the Patriots Partnership were so desperate that they collapsed to the ground!
Everybody turned their eyes to the south, where Li Yao was at, where the broadcast came from!
Li Yao did not know any of that. He simply repeated the broadcast mechanically over and over again, showing no sign of stopping even when blood was flowing out of his nose and ears.
He did not know how many times he had broadcasted the broadcast. His consciousness was somewhat blurred, but he kept telling himself to broadcast again and again. Broadcast again and again. Broadcast again and again. Broadcast again and again. Broadcast again and again …
He fell into the mud. The microclimate that had been maintained for almost half an hour was finally broken. The dark clouds and the storm consumed the world again, turning the mountains and rivers around as dark as ink. The telepathic thoughts that he sent out were ripped apart by the lightning and the tornadoes before they could reach dozens of kilometers away!
Even so, Li Yao was still lying on the ground with his arms and legs stretched out. He opened his eyes with all his strength and let the raindrops fall into his eyes to stimulate himself so that he could keep himself awake and send out telepathic thoughts that were destined to be ripped apart.
One telepathic thought. One telepathic thought was enough. One telepathic thought was a glimmer of hope!
When he finally could not hold on any longer and was about to pass out, there was no telling if it was an illusion, but he vaguely heard the sound of tides behind the mountains in the north, as if a magnificent floating mountain was flying close. On the 'floating mountain', the two words' Prairie Fire 'were emitting mystic rays that tore apart the storm and the dark clouds.
In the south, dozens of streaks of colorful brilliance were rushing close and piercing through the thunderstorm brutally, too.
A streak of crimson brilliance that looked like the flames at the center of the earth was flying toward him in the lead!
"Li Yao!"
Ding Ling Dong's roar immediately drowned out the thunder in the sky. Even the storm paused for a moment in fear.
