Chapter 485

Report

It could be said that Hammer had been very happy recently, although a few months ago, he had been suffering because his company, Hammer Arms, didn't have enough orders.

The failure of the drone weapon he designed for General Ross caused him to lose the military's biggest order (the plot was published in the Iron Man 2 Prelude comic). Originally, the military and Congress had been eyeing Stark's Iron Man armor covetously, hoping to get their hands on the complete design.

However, Tony strongly resisted, and even led other companies with Oscorp to take the lead in Congress to pick peaches, especially forcing the big capitalists to give up their interests, which was collectively opposed by this group of big crocodiles.

In the original story, because no one was willing to stand out and be rebuffed by Congress and the military, Tony could only bear the pressure alone. In the end, he compromised and handed over the Iron Patriot and the war machine.

But in this world, because Li Jie had gotten the Osborne Group involved in this story, with a big capitalist as the leader, he was soon able to gather a group of other capitalists who were also dissatisfied with what Congress was doing.

To put it bluntly, American politics was the politics of capital. The big capitalists were the most important force in this country, because they were the financiers behind these political bigwigs. When the financiers joined forces and spoke up, most of the members of Congress chose to let go for their own political considerations.

Without the support of Congress, the military couldn't do anything directly to a private entrepreneur. In the end, the military could only settle for the next best thing, and set its sights on the Osborne Group.

This meant that Hammer, who had benefited from Stark Industries' predicament in the original story, didn't get any benefits. Most importantly, without Ivan Vanke's participation, Hammer, that idiot, wouldn't be able to come up with anything decent.

One scene that left a deep impression on Li Jie was when Hammer solemnly introduced a killer weapon called Ex-Wife to the black colonel.

Fine, Li Jie didn't care what Hammer's ex-wife had done to this poor little scientist. But since you have given me this name, please show me the power of your [Ex-wife], right?

But in the final battle between good and evil, the miniature missile called Ex-Wife ended up being a dud. Was this Hammer's most outstanding weapon design?

That alone was enough to discourage Li Jie from putting any hope in this man's scientific achievements.

But what was on the stage now? A group of battle robots that were nearly three meters tall? Their appearance was a bit like the robot villains in the sci-fi movie "Armored Dragon 1".

They were not humanoid mechs. Instead, they had two huge recurved leg joints. The chest cavity and the head were combined together to form a central control integrated controller and monitor. What should have been the arms had been redesigned into two places to mount weapons.

Li Jie took a look. Due to their size and weight advantage, these robots were equipped with two five-barreled Gatling Cannons on their arms, as well as a few individual guided missiles in the pods below. Including air and ground attacks.

There were also a few mechas that looked smaller and had a more streamlined body design. They seemed to be aerial models. Li Jie didn't know if Hammer had any other underwater models.

This group of robots were all remotely controlled, so there was no need for soldiers to directly enter the machines and fight face-to-face.

This would greatly reduce the casualty rate of soldiers compared to the cost of repairing a damaged mech. Obviously, a soldier who was proficient in operating a mech was more valuable.

This was similar to the requirements of the Air Force. In the event of an aircraft accident, the first thing to be saved was the pilot. The value of an ace pilot was not comparable to that of a cold machine.

These were the things that Hammer was happy about recently. Although his new robots looked simple and crude, it didn't affect their combat effectiveness.

Although the [Elven Armor] produced by the Osborne Group was more flexible and more able to perform high-end combat requirements. But the robot named by Hammer as the [Destroyer] still had an advantage, and that was the price was cheaper.

If 200 units were produced as a batch, then the price of one unit could be reduced to about one million dollars. This was lower than the price of many main battle tanks at this stage. It was almost the same price as light tanks or armored vehicles.

Many countries were interested in this weapon, including the US military. Most importantly, this weapon didn't require Hammer to invest much in the early stage of research and development.

This allowed him to further reduce the price. Of course, he wouldn't tell others that he didn't design this weapon.

Hammer was now on stage proudly saying to the staff, "Come on, let them move! Let Mr. Stark and Mr. Albert have a look! "

Albert Steinmann, who was standing opposite Tony, looked at Hammer with a gloomy face. On the other hand, Tony and Li Jie were shocked.

The mobility of these mechs was far more flexible than they appeared to be. Turning quickly, in addition to the main weapon in the hand, the other secondary weapons on the body could quickly lock onto the target.

In the venue, these robots couldn't make too exaggerated movements, but just a few quick positioning and demonstrations were enough for Tony to see the value of these robots.

"It seems that these guys won't be troubled by the problem of going down the stairs." Li Jie silently said. (Note 1)

Although Tony was a little surprised by Hammer's results, he didn't show it on his face. He walked to the front of the booth, patted the other iron guys parked on the side and said, "It seems that we need to find a guy named Murphy to destroy these things, right?" (Note 2) Tony said with a slight sarcasm.

Hammer shrugged nonchalantly. "Maybe Iron Man would work too."

At this moment, Peter, who had been standing next to Li Jie, suddenly pulled Li Jie's sleeve. "Something's wrong, I have a premonition of danger."

"Is that so?" Li Jie frowned, glanced at the mechs on the stage, and at the same time glanced at his parents and Peter's aunt and uncle not far away.

"No matter what you feel, let's take them away first." Li Jie said resolutely. He didn't want to put his family in danger. He quickly walked toward his family.

"Don't you need to care about Tony? I feel that the danger is directed at him. "Peter followed Li Jie's footsteps and asked at the same time.

"There are two agents from S.H.E.L.D. here, and their two guests from China. They can handle these things. And the most important thing is that Tony's mech has been upgraded again. Although he's wearing a suit now, he's not defenseless. " Li Jie didn't stay too long and invited his parents, Uncle Ben, and Aunt May to visit other places. They left the weapons exhibition area first.

He planned to put them in a safe place first, and then come back to see what would happen here.

The departure of Li Jie and Peter with their families did not attract the attention of others, only Hawkeye, Barton, and Li Jie said goodbye. Everyone else's attention was focused on the booth.

In an exhibition, especially a weapons exhibition, all weapons with destructive power were not allowed to appear. For example, there are guns, but there are no bullets.

All missiles and heavy weapons are models, they don't have real lethality. So, according to reason, the magazine of the Destroyer should be empty, and the missiles mounted below should be realistic models.

Then, a red light flashed on the monitor of one of the Destroyers. Its 12.7mm Gatling Vulcan Cannon's motor suddenly started up, and the high-speed motor made a buzzing sound.

Everyone heard the sound of it starting to transport ammunition for the Vulcan Cannon, and at this moment, it showed its ability to quickly lock on to a target.

Almost without any pause, when its weapon started operating, it had already locked on to Tony Stark not far away.

Before Hammer could stop his triumphant expression, the two agents from S.H.E.L.D. had just reacted. Hubble didn't have time to pull his boss down.

A storm of steel is coming!

Note 1: The villain robot in the old movie Armored Dragon couldn't go down stairs because of a design flaw, and was finally killed by the protagonist using stairs. This is a movie trope.
