The rain was getting heavier and heavier, and it was splashing against the floor-to-ceiling windows, creating beautiful splashes under the light.

The two men sat across from each other with a large mug of beer in front of them, and they looked at each other in silence.

"No one on the entire Norland Continent would believe that Alex became a chef and made the best mooncakes in the world." Louis couldn't help but burst into laughter.

"Just like how no one would believe that Lone Wolf Louis the Thirteenth would become a businessman, right?" Meg asked with a smile.

"I have no choice. I'm crippled, so I can't continue to stay on the battlefield and be a burden to my brothers. However, I'm still alive, so I have to at least find something interesting to do. Only then will I be able to live up to the fact that you rescued me from the orc encirclement." Louis nodded with a smile.

"That's right. If you're still alive, then you should find something interesting to do. I think cooking is quite interesting now, so I became a chef. That way, I can at least live up to the fact that you risked your entire family to bring me here from Rodu." Meg nodded in agreement.

"However, after doing business for so many years, I still think that killing people is more interesting, and I'm also better at it." Louis stroked the hilt of the long saber hanging from his waist. The cloth around the hilt was a little old, and it could be seen that the parts of the saber that he was holding were far more worn than the rest of the saber.

"I think cooking is more interesting than killing people now." Meg shook his head.

Louis faltered slightly upon hearing this. He looked into Meg's eyes, and found that they seemed to be a little different from before. There was a hint of sharpness in them, and a hint of gentleness in them.

"This little girl is very adorable; she's not like you at all." Louis changed the topic very quickly with a smile.

"What do you mean not like me? You didn't see me when I fell in love with her; Amy and I are cut from the same mold!" Meg was getting a little flustered upon hearing this. He crossed his arms in front of his chest in an annoyed manner, but there was a smile on his face as he looked at Louis.

Louis, also known as Thirteen, was born into a wealthy aristocratic family. His father was also a playboy in his youth, and had given birth to 12 older brothers before Louis was born. As such, Louis was ranked 13th on the list, and thus received his nickname, Louis the Thirteenth.

Even though he came from a wealthy merchant family, Louis had no interest in doing business before the age of 26. Instead, he was more interested in practicing his saber skills, and he fled to the southwestern border at the age of 15, where he met Meg Alex, who had also just enlisted..........

These were Mag Alex's memories. Mag had thought that he would be able to analyze these memories like an outsider and use them to deal with the current situation. However, when Louis sat across from him, and he looked back at Louis in silence, he couldn't help but feel as if he were looking at an old friend.

......

It was the kind of person that you could not contact for three years, but when you sat at the same table again and looked at each other, you could confidently tell yourself that the person opposite you was the one you could entrust your life to, the one you trusted the most.

. Meg looked at Louis, and he had this feeling in his heart.

This feeling made him feel a little uneasy, but it was more of a longing.

He began to understand the true meaning of the so-called memory fusion. The memories left by Meg Alex in his mind were not just information, but the emotions contained in those memories also affected Meg to a certain extent.

For example, when he first met Amy, the strong feeling of wanting to protect her was not because of his sudden fatherly love, nor was it because of Amy's cute appearance. More importantly, it was because of Meg Alex's strong and deep fatherly love after fusing with him. It gave him a strong feeling of being Amy's father, and he wanted to protect her forever.

Meg wasn't opposed to this type of fusion as it would make it easier for him to integrate into this world. Furthermore, Meg Alex had only left behind some emotional inclinations, so they wouldn't affect his independent will. He could even reject these inclinations, and he would have the final say in this world.

However, Meg chose to accept these inclinations as this man had risked his life to bring Meg Alex and Amy out of Rodu. He then found someone to treat his injuries and undergo plastic surgery before bringing them to Chaos City.

Meg only had two or three old friends in his past life. Now, he was willing to add one more. There was no more reassuring friendship between men.

Louis looked at Meg, and suddenly burst into laughter.

"You're getting scarier and scarier when you laugh." Meg raised an eyebrow.

"I think back to when we first joined the army. You were forced to meow 100 times as a punishment by the captain because you were trying to act cool and not say anything. Three entire battalions of soldiers came to watch you. Thinking back now, you really were adorable back then." Louis was laughing so hard that tears were flowing from his eyes.

Meg's expression darkened upon hearing this. Even though he wasn't the one who had done that, it was still extremely embarrassing to hear about.

When old friends were together, the scariest thing was to suddenly expose one another's past. Thankfully, Amy was already asleep.

After laughing, Louis picked up the large beer glass on the table and downed all of the beer in the glass in one gulp. He then slammed the glass onto the table with a loud thud, and burped before giving Mag a thumbs-up as he said, "That's some good beer."

"Want another?" Meg asked with a smile.

"No, I'm drunk, and killing people isn't fun." Louis shook his head as he stood up with his saber in hand. He turned to Meg with a smile, and said, "Save the beer for me. If I don't make it back, you can drink it for me."

"You said the kid likes to eat mooncakes, so I left two boxes for you to take back," Meg said to Louis.

"Don't worry, the kid still has his mother and 12 uncles. He won't go hungry, and no one will be able to bully him." Louis shook his head in a carefree manner as he turned to Meg, and said, "The kid is still asleep upstairs. There might be thunder, so you should go upstairs and accompany her. You're the only one behind her."

"Even though I'm lame, I'm still a lone wolf. It's just a few rats." Louis chuckled as he turned and walked out.

Meg fell silent, and his hands slowly clenched into fists as he looked at the limping figure walking toward the restaurant door. His footsteps were very light, but his shoulders were very heavy. He pushed open the door, and the wind mixed with rain fell on his face. Just like that, he stepped into the storm.

The door slowly closed, and the sound of the rain falling to the ground abruptly faded. It was as if the outside world had been cut off.
