"Clement, Constance, you two come with me." Klaus ignored Hank's sarcastic remarks as he called out two names.
"Alright." The two young men stepped forward and followed Klaus onto the competition platform. Regardless of the outcome of this match, it wasn't something that they could brag about.
The spectator stands were completely silent as everyone looked on with nervous expressions. The three most powerful magic casters of the Chaos Academy had already stepped onto the stage, but they still didn't feel safe facing that arrogant green-haired young man.
"We have to win this match." Klaus clenched his fists as he spoke in a soft voice.
The other two young men nodded solemnly in unison as they looked at Hank with grave expressions.
Meanwhile, Hank was looking at the three of them with a relaxed expression, and he wasn't nervous in the slightest.
"Looks like Novan is going to need my precious disciple to help him out this time. Could it be that she overslept? Why isn't she here yet? I'm starving to death. "Crassus looked around with a hint of anxiety on his face for the first time.
"Good luck, seniors!" Daphne clenched her little fists with a nervous expression as she cheered them on.
"A wood-type magic caster with super powerful control is no problem for him to take on three opponents at once," Ignatsu murmured to himself as the little bean sprout above his head rotated like a propeller.
"Let the eighth match begin!" Klaus yelled.
"Go!" Klaus yelled as he raised his hand and chanted a spell, upon which three icicles that were around a foot in length flew toward Hank in a straight line.
Clement raised his hand to cast a fireball spell, which split into three before flying toward Hank in an arc.
"Water elements lurking in the air, please heed my call and bestow upon me the power of the Water God …" Constance sat down on the ground with his legs crossed as he chanted a spell. Dense water vapor began to converge around his body as if he were preparing some kind of large-scale spell.
"Is this a game?" Hank smiled as he looked at the icicles and fireballs flying towards him from different directions. He raised his left hand and a green light appeared in front of him, quickly condensing into a hollow wooden shield made of vines.
The three icicles and three fireballs smashed into the wooden shield one after another. The seemingly fragile wooden shield lit up with a green light. The icicles shattered and the fireballs exploded, but they didn't break the wooden shield at all. They didn't even break a single vine.
"He's an Intermediate Magician. Go all out!" Claus's expression was extremely solemn. He was able to easily defend against their attacks with a wooden shield. Such strength confirmed the information that they had received earlier. The three of them didn't have much hope of defeating him.
"In my name, summon the Snowball Technique!" Klaus waved his black wand forward, and ice and snow began to materialize above Hank, as if something were about to descend.
"Fireball Chain!" Clement yelled as he pointed his wand at Hank, and the five fireballs flew toward him in a line.
"Summon the waves, give him the ultimate attack!" Constance's voice suddenly became louder as he pointed his wand at Hank. A blue wave that was three meters tall and three meters wide appeared out of thin air, immediately following which a chain of fireballs flew toward Hank.
"Snowball, descend!" Klaus roared at the same time, and the ice and snow that had materialized abruptly fell, transforming into basketball-sized snowballs that crashed down toward Hank like meteors.
"Two Intermediate Magicians and one Primary Magician; we should be able to win this time, right?" All of the students from the Chaos School looked on with wide eyes. The three most powerful magic casters in the school combined could even put up a fight against a 4th-tier magic caster.
All of the students below the stage were also looking on with anticipation in their eyes. That green-haired guy was simply too despicable, and they would be able to vent all of their frustrations if they could defeat him.
Even the teachers were getting a little nervous. This battle was going to determine the outcome of the competition. If the three of them couldn't defeat him, then the four of them who were clearly weaker than him would be completely meaningless.
"That's more like it." Hank looked on at the three spells that were hurtling toward him, and there was no hint of fear on his face. Instead, a hint of interest appeared on his face, and he began to chant a spell before waving his wand above his head. The green wooden shield that was originally only in front of him instantly transformed into a round ball that enshrouded him.
The fireballs exploded upon contact with the wooden ball, sending countless sparks flying into the air. The large snowballs crashed into the wooden ball, creating a series of deep craters, and the raging waves almost completely flattened half of the wooden ball.
The thin wooden ball swayed back and forth between the three spells, looking as if it were going to fall apart at any moment.
However, after the fireball exploded, the snowball fell, and the waves turned into a puddle of water on the ground. The wooden ball with its surface bumpy was still standing in the middle of the arena. Hank, who was standing in the wooden ball and hadn't moved at all, was unscathed. There wasn't even a single drop of water on his body.
Klaus and the other two were panting heavily upon seeing this, and they were struck by a sense of despair. They weren't even able to break through Hank's defenses, so there was no longer any suspense in this battle.
"He's … completely unscathed!"
All of the students below the platform were also feeling rather disappointed. They had been looking forward to seeing this, but their attacks were completely ineffective.
"Looks like you're all done. Looks like it's my turn now." Hank raised a hand to dispel the battered wooden ball shield above his head. Green light flashed from his black wand, and he pointed it at Klaus and the others with a cold smile as he said, "Get the hell out of here!"
Green light flashed, and a series of black vines that were as thick as an arm suddenly appeared from the ground. They instantly bound Klaus and the others, who were just about to unleash another spell, before flinging them out of the competition platform.
"Bam, bam, bam!"
Three dull thumps rang out, and the three of them were flung out of the ball of light without being able to retaliate. Even though they weren't injured, they were still quite dizzy.
"The eighth round goes to the Magus Tower." Karpas took a glance at Hank. This young man's mental fortitude wasn't very good, but the fact that he was able to instantly unleash the intermediate spell, Vine Entanglement, indicated that he was indeed far more powerful than the students of Chaos School.
"We won!"
All of the Magus Tower students erupted into raucous cheers. Even though they had already anticipated this result, they were still very excited.
An oppressive silence ensued. Chaos School had lost in a three-on-one battle, and the Magus Tower had only sent out two representatives. Chaos School had suffered a crushing defeat in this competition. In fact, many of the children in the elementary school had even lost their dreams of magic.
"You're the only ones left now. Come on up and let me end this competition." Hank waved a hand at the four remaining students of the Chaos School with undisguised disdain in his eyes.
The students of the Chaos School were still a little fearful, but they exchanged a glance with one another before making their way onto the competition platform. Being afraid of a battle was even more humiliating than losing the competition.
Two 3rd-tier magic casters and two 2nd-tier magic casters had been flung out of the competition platform in less than 10 seconds after Karpas announced the commencement of the competition.
Hank clapped his hands together and looked down at the deathly silent platform with a mocking expression as he said, "I thought this was going to be an interesting competition, but it looks like I was wrong. Forgive me for being blunt, but everyone here is trash."
Everyone glowered at Hank with rage burning in their hearts. However, when they thought back to how he had easily defeated the most powerful students of the Chaos School, they had no way to refute him. As such, they could only grit their teeth and lower their heads, silently enduring this humiliation.
The oppressive atmosphere was extremely uncomfortable. Everyone was waiting for Karpas to announce the results of this competition so that they could leave this uncomfortable place as soon as possible.
"Hehe." Hank shook his head with a disdainful expression before making his way toward the Magus Tower students.
