Boom!

Here it comes again.

The light of the explosion flashed before Lin's eyes once more. Lin had the mechanical spiders move again when she saw the radiance.

They ran out from under a piece of debris they were hiding behind and ran as fast as they could towards the place where the explosion came from, since it was safer to be near the crater than anywhere else.

Lin's mechanical spiders had already spent the duration of three pom-poms on the surface of the gravity sphere.

It was a wondrous place. Like other regions of the Void, it was always covered in darkness and cold, but unlike other regions, it would occasionally shine with light and warmth.

'Missiles' would often be shot out from the ruins of Skyland. These cylindrical objects that were around ten meters long were filled with explosives, and most of them would explode upon hitting a piece of debris before they could hit the ground. Still, there were some that could successfully hit the surface of the gravity sphere, causing a loud flash and blasting a huge crater in the ground.

There would always be some high-temperature liquid substance shining in the crater after the explosion. Sometimes, the entire crater would be filled with it, while other times, there would only be a small amount of it. There was one type of creature that liked it very much.

They were the spherical objects that had protected the mechanical spiders before, and Lin had decided to call them 'Lightchasers'. Yes.

The Lightchasers had a spherical body that was hollow inside and used to store high-temperature substances. When an explosion occurred, they would enter the crater to absorb the high-temperature liquid substance and store it inside their spherical body.

They also had a strange personality, which was that they were protective of Lin's mechanical spiders.

Lin's mechanical spider had almost reached the crater. Behind the mechanical spider, there was something chasing after it.

It appeared to be a creature called 'Bi' with a very large mouth. However, this' fragment 'itself was made of a rock-like structure and was not as soft as a real Bi' an.

When Lin had encountered this creature before, she had noticed that it was eating the debris around it. It would then shatter those debris and spit them out.

Compared to debris, it preferred to chase after things that could move, such as Lin's mechanical spiders. Therefore, as the mechanical spiders were running, this' Bi 'had also chased after them.

However, when Lin got close to the crater, it stopped moving.

Because when the Lightchasers in the crater sensed that the mechanical spiders were nearby, they would run out of the crater. Then, all of them rushed toward that bastard.

Clearly, Bi 'an had no intention of fighting against the Lightchasers. It turned and flew away, leaving Lin's mechanical spider safe.

Even so, that safety was only temporary. The Lightchasers would run away once they finished eating everything in the crater, and the mechanical spider would be in danger once more when the surroundings returned to darkness.

There were many creatures lurking on the surface of the gravitational sphere, and they seemed to have a strong sense of attack. The mechanical spider's combat ability was quite weak, and it was difficult for it to kill almost any creature here.

Lin needed to find a safe place to create more troops.

Just as Lin was thinking. The Lightchasers appeared to have finished eating everything in the crater. Like before, they surrounded the mechanical spider and used their forelimbs to spit out a soft substance that contained fungus before running away.

Lin really wanted to know what this behavior of theirs meant. Previously, Lin had thought that it was similar to feeding, but in reality, it wasn't. It was likely that the fungus contained a 'language'.

This language needed to be interpreted in another way. In fact, this was something Lin had stumbled upon by accident.

That was because Lin had continued to capture xenogeneics from the ruins to investigate. She believed that they might have more secrets, and that they might be able to obtain information about the location of organs.

Recently, Lin had caught a xenogeneic that had strayed from the group. The xenogeneic's area of activity was quite far away from their residential area. After examining it, she discovered that there were fungus living inside its body.

The type of fungus was the same as the ones the Lightchasers had given the mechanical spider.

Lin also discovered that the fungus was immune to the xenogeneic's immune system. They could live near the xenogeneic's brain, and the xenogeneic could command the fungus. Its brain could send out certain signals. It could guide the fungus outside its body.

In fact, they were using the fungus to communicate.

It had been a long time since this xenogeneic had gone to their main residential area, which was the place where the rocks were floating. Instead, it had been wandering outside for a long time, and had formed a small colony.

This small colony of theirs had a special task, and that was to 'communicate' with the surface of the gravitational sphere.

This form of communication was to guide the fungus outside its body, wrap it in a layer of flesh-like substance, and then toss it in the direction of the gravitational sphere.

It was similar to sending a letter.

Then, the 'fungus letter' would be received by a certain creature in the ruins. That creature would then interpret the message in the letter and reply to the xenogeneic.

They also used mushroom letters, and the xenogeneics had a translation device, which looked like a piece of meat. It was used to interpret the letters they sent.

The xenogeneic that Lin had recently captured had sent out quite a number of letters, but it did not know the contents of those letters either.

Xenogeneics had a special 'habit' where they would periodically discard their memories. They might store those memories somewhere else.

But that was not important. What was important was their translation device.

Now, Lin was able to find the same number and type of fungus from the xenogeneic's body as the Lightchaser had given her. Then, all she had to do was put them into the translation device, and she would be able to understand what the Lightchaser was saying.

The translated content would appear in the xenogeneic's memory, and the translation device would need to be placed inside the xenogeneic's body. After Lin had done all that, she found the Lightchaser.

It was saying that it was a map.

The fungus was describing something that looked like a map. That map should be the one on the gravitational sphere. The map showed a large area of the terrain and various details of the terrain. There were also some areas that had been specially 'marked'.

The xenogeneic's memory showed that they were particularly interested in those areas.
