Is this … the original location?
A pompom was slowly flying in a cold place.
This was a dark passage with solid walls on both sides. The pompom's light illuminated the surroundings, and within the pompom's field of vision, there were many floating objects.
They were sofas, chairs, tables … and the like.
Of course, they were the constructions of Ershi's residents, and they were quite similar to the Voidfolk's constructions. A pot of green plant was slowly floating in front of the pompom. Lin looked at the plant for a bit and found that it looked like one of the most common plants in the Voidfolk's world, a fake plant.
It was made from something else that was dyed green, which was why it could remain in this environment for so long. However, the difference between a manufactured plant and a real plant was too great …
The pompom continued to fly forward, shuttling between a large number of floating objects. These floating objects contained many of the daily necessities of Ershi's residents, but other than the common items, there were also some … things left behind by living creatures.
A piece of … clothing appeared in front of the pompom.
In fact, there were many floating pieces of clothing here, but this one was special because it was made from the skin of a living creature. After examining it with the fluff, Lin concluded that it was a small four-legged creature.
It was quite plush, but Lin felt that Ershi's residents did not need these creatures' skins to keep warm, so this was considered a 'luxury' item.
The Voidfolk should be envious of them, to think that they would kill creatures other than their own to make luxury items, or would they be angry at their actions?
Both scenarios were possible.
As it flew, the pompom arrived in front of an entrance. The entrance door was floating in the air like other floating objects, and inside the room, there were many leather clothes that they saw before.
This should be a warehouse or something, then there was nothing to see.
The pompom turned around and flew to another side. This time, what appeared before the pompom was a flight of stairs, and the use of stairs seemed to be quite popular among these creatures.
However. They also liked to use something called an 'elevator'.
The pompom turned around and saw an open entrance on the other side of the passage. It flew to the entrance and saw some metal ropes inside. They extended to a very high place.
These ropes were used to lift a metal box to a high place, and the metal box seemed to be below.
Although this was the Void and there was no distinction between up and down, this place was still called the lower level and the upper level because … this was a building.
The pom-poms flew down the elevator's metal ropes. Soon, they arrived at the metal box that they were hanging. This box was the main body of the elevator.
There was an opening on the box, which seemed to be covered by a small door. However, the door was gone, so the velvet ball could fly in through the opening.
There were some bags floating in the elevator, but the most eye-catching one was a corpse.
This was the corpse of an Ershi resident. Seeing its appearance, Lin could imagine the pain it must have gone through at the time. It must have been exposed to the void and died from extreme pain. Its miserable state was preserved by the cold environment.
However, this wreckage didn't have any special uses.
With that in mind, Lin ordered the pompoms to fly back through the entrance she came in from. Then, she flew up the elevator rope, intending to reach the top floor of the building directly.
Soon, the pompom arrived at this position.
As she flew out of the elevator, what appeared in front of Lin was a luxuriously colored carpet, various small and large items, as well as some wreckage.
Of course, they were all floating in the air, but she didn't expect there to be so many wreckage on the top floor as well. There were fewer wreckage below.
Perhaps they all ran up when the disaster happened? Wouldn't that put her in a situation where she had nowhere to run?
Or perhaps, there was a flying machine on the top floor to pick them up?
While thinking, the pompoms flew through the wreckage. All of a sudden, Lin noticed something special.
This thing had been carefully carved with many patterns on it, but Lin noticed that it wasn't made of stone, but rather … the teeth of some kind of creature. Seems like it was also a luxury item.
They really did use a lot of creatures to make luxury items. Lin examined it. Lin believed that these creatures grew very slowly, so there shouldn't be a large number of them being used to make luxury items. Ershi's technology still couldn't produce these creatures on a large scale, so they should be very rare.
However, Lin believed that they wouldn't stop killing creatures just because they were rare. Instead, they would be more active, because the luxury items pulled from the creatures would be sold at a high price. This should be a rare and expensive item, no wonder she only saw it on the top floor.
The top floor was also where the 'boss' room was.
They were similar to Voidfolk, boss type characters liked to be in higher places, so that they could have a feeling of looking down on everything …
The pompom arrived at the door of the boss' room.
The door was wide open, and Lin could see all kinds of things floating inside. There were also many of the luxurious animal teeth that she saw before.
And the most conspicuous floating object was … a wreckage.
There were several wreckages floating here, but one of them was the most conspicuous. It didn't look as miserable as the others, because … it was wearing armor.
Or rather, it was something like a protective suit. The pompom floated in front of the protective suit, and she could see … a skeleton inside.
It seemed that the protective suit had protected the body well until it was decomposed by microbes, and it hadn't been exposed yet.
This should be a boss type character, because it was the only one wearing a protective suit. Protective suits were quite rare even in Ershi.
Lin believed that it wouldn't have done nothing before it died. It should have done something other than panic.
Lin looked around … sure enough, there were some conspicuous objects among the floating objects …
They were some metal plates, and there were many … words written on them. The words were also in the Armegan language. Lin picked up one of the metal plates and looked at it. Then, she continued to collect the other metal plates around her.
There were many metal plates here, so there was a considerable amount of information. And the information on the metal plates was indeed related to what happened in this building … it was written by the boss of this building.
Starting from the first metal plate, the content was roughly like this.
This building was mainly owned by a clothing company. It was mainly responsible for manufacturing the leather clothing that they saw below. The boss of this building had a Void Protective Suit.
However, he had never worn it. Instead, one of his friends came here and found the suit. Then, he asked to try it on.
Then, when he put on the suit, something strange happened. The originally bright sky outside the window suddenly became as dark as night.
Everything in the building was madly … sucked out from the various exits. Soon, all the creatures inside died.
Except for this … the boss' friend who happened to be wearing the protective suit. He watched in horror as everything happened. Then, he used a device to print out a series of words on a pile of metal plates.
Only the first metal plate was used to write those words. The other metal plates were all his diary entries.
From the diary entries, he could see how the boss' friend lived during that time … he wrote that he began to become more and more hungry, but he couldn't find any food. In fact, there was food, but he didn't know how to open the protective suit to put the food in.
So, he slowly died. At the end of the diary, he expressed his longing for his lover.
So, that was how it was.
It seemed that the boss' friend was quite … lucky. He happened to be wearing the protective suit at that time … but he couldn't continue living.
After all, other than the protective suit, there was nothing else in this building that was suitable for living in the Void.
There was nothing else in the diary. So, the velvet ball put down the metal plate and floated out of the room to check out the other rooms.
Lin checked out some places that looked like meeting rooms. At the same time, she also saw the remains of some other creatures. Those creatures should be the creatures they used to make the leather suits. There was actually a living creature here … it was alive back then.
Then, it seemed that there was nothing special. With that in mind, Lin had the velvet ball float to a window. Then, she opened the window and flew out.
Outside the window was vast and dark. However, there was a large white object.
This was a velvet ball with a diameter of 100 meters. It slowly floated in the Void. This velvet ball was used by Lin to find Ershi's original location.
Ershi was indeed gone. His satellite … had also disappeared to who knows where.
However, after searching a few places, Lin found some things. These things seemed to be left behind by Ershi.
The building they explored earlier was one of these things.
This building was floating in the Void. It was over 100 meters tall. The contents were as Lin had seen. Fortunately, there was … the boss' friend who recorded the history of this building.
Why was it here?
Lin felt that there was a reason. Perhaps when Ershi was teleported away, some of his belongings were left behind.
But that wasn't necessarily the case. Lin felt that this building hadn't been floating for that long. So, it was possible that at some point, Ershi … had teleported back here from afar.
As for why he did that, it wasn't clear.
However, it seemed to be very smart. Because there were no traces of teleportation here … Ershi didn't leave behind any information about where he went.
This wasn't strange. Lin felt that the Star Bus had the ability to erase traces.
But then, I don't know where it went … (To be continued.)
