The Death Leaderboard!
The Death Leaderboard!
A silver pearl appeared in Vampire's command deck. This was the Winterwarmth Pearl he had taken from the Watergloom. Xia Fei installed a pedestal on this pearl and then placed it in the center of the command deck.
The air was filled with the fragrance of summer lotus leaves. The fragrance was not strong, but it was invigorating. Even the brain seemed to work much faster because of it.
Furball naturally coveted the Winterwarmth Pearl, but under Xia Fei's stern warning, Furball gave up on the thought of eating the Winterwarmth Pearl. However, he moved his nest from the sofa to the command deck, sleeping right next to the Winterwarmth Pearl. It seemed that even he enjoyed this faint fragrance as a companion.
Not long after Xia Fei left Red River Valley, Duabi and his capture squad arrived. Originally, no one knew about Hezar's death. He was a solitary ascetic who did not have much contact with the insectoids. Duabi had only been able to find him because of a message Xia Fei had posted on the insectoid network.
Hezar's death was a massive shock to the insectoid race, and Xia Fei had no reason to do such a good deed without leaving his name. Thus, he stuck Hezar's head on the highest mountain on the planet, took a picture, and posted it on the network.
The entire insectoid race was in an uproar!
Everyone was stunned!
When Hezar was alive, no one liked him, nor did he like his own people, but his death had a massive impact on the insectoid race. No one could believe that the most unique warrior of the insectoid race would die at the hands of a human!
Hezar could die, and many people would applaud him. In any case, he was just a name to the insectoid race, but the insectoids would not allow him to die at the hands of a human! This would be a severe blow to the Sacred Warrior Guild and all their people!
Duabi frowned as he removed Hezar's head. He seemed to have aged a great deal. Even the tyrannical Hezar had been killed, so he could not think of anyone in the race who could stop Xia Fei.
What confused him even more was how Xia Fei had managed to overcome Hezar's ability. Logically speaking, a speed ability user should have no chance of victory against an energy drain ability user, no matter how high their rank was. At the very least, Hezar should have been able to fight Xia Fei to the point where both sides were heavily injured.
Yadan pursed his lips. Of everyone present, only he and Mingjing did not care about Hezar's death. Mingjing was High Priest Ryun's disciple, so it was normal for her to not care about the matters of the tribe. Yadan, on the other hand, acted purely out of his personality. It was as if there was nothing in the world that he cared about.
Mingjing closed her eyes and used her powerful special ability to search the planet. After a while, Mingjing excitedly came back to her senses and wrote down a line of words on her electronic notebook.
"The battlefield is at the southwest side of the river. I can feel the remnants of the enemy's powerful energy. This time, I should be able to collect enough information to help me build the enemy's model."
Duabi was startled and hurriedly asked, "Lord Mingjing, is what you said true?"
Mingjing nodded resolutely.
"Go! Let's head to the southwest immediately! "Duabi waved his hand and said.
* Whoosh! *
The ladybug light cruiser landed on the battlefield where Xia Fei and Hezar had fought. The moment they disembarked, Mingjing immediately used her technique to collect the information Xia Fei had left behind.
When dealing with Hezar, Xia Fei had brushed past Hezar's body, allowing the latter to absorb quite a bit of his energy. This had been an unintentional act, but it had left behind a hidden danger.
Once Hezar's body was converted into energy by Furball, a large amount of Xia Fei's Origin Energy was released. Even though Furball had absorbed more than half of it, there were still quite a few energy molecules scattered around the river.
Mingjing had already collected a portion of Xia Fei's energy molecules, so she could easily distinguish the energy in the air that was related to Xia Fei and then calmly collect it.
She was very strange when using her special ability, like a frozen little girl, her petite body constantly shivering. Duabi and the others were already used to this sort of scene. While Mingjing was using her special ability, they curiously gathered around the Watergloom's corpse.
"Is this a snake?"
"Doesn't look like it. No snake has a six-petaled mouth."
"If it's not a snake, then what is it?"
"Maybe it's some sort of intestine-type exotic beast. Who cares? In any case, Hezar has already absorbed all of it. Look at his withered corpse; it's like it's been exposed to the sun for a long time. This is a standard Hezar ambush. What a pity. A powerful warrior like Hezar actually died at the hands of a human."
Everyone sighed, all of them feeling sorry for Hezar's death.
Yadan coldly laughed. "Do you know what Hezar's death means?"
Duabi very much disliked Yadan's gloomy tone. Frowning, he asked, "It means that the insectoids have lost a powerful Sacred Warrior."
"No," Laresh said.
"It means that the sixteenth place on the Sacred Warrior Leaderboard will be empty."
"That's not right either."
Everyone was confused, not understanding what Yadan was trying to say.
"It means that no one on the Sacred Warrior Leaderboard other than High Priest Ryun can stop this human warrior."
"Oh." Duabi grunted. Everyone knew that if High Priest Ryun was not counted, then Hezar was the true king of the Sacred Warrior Leaderboard. He was the uncrowned king, and it was because of his reclusive personality and his dislike of interacting with his tribesmen that he was only ranked sixteenth. In terms of true strength, Hezar definitely had the ability to rank among the top five!
"Including High Priest Ryun, the top five of the Sacred Warrior Leaderboard are all elusive experts. Some live in seclusion, while others carry out secret missions for their tribes. These people won't casually appear, so it seems that no one on the Sacred Warrior Leaderboard can stop this human warrior from killing."
Duabi sensed that Yadan was hinting at something and sternly asked, "What do you mean?"
Yadan faintly smiled. "If there's no powerful figure to stop him, then all the tribesmen on the Sacred Warrior Leaderboard will be in danger."
Everyone was dumbfounded. No one had ever considered this problem before, but it was a problem that could not be ignored!
Up until now, Xia Fei had clearly been choosing his opponents to kill on the Sacred Warrior Leaderboard. If an expert like Hezar died, all the elite warriors on the leaderboard would understand that they were no match for Xia Fei. They would feel fear, afraid that Xia Fei would come knocking on their door.
In terms of cultivation and status, these elite warriors could be called role models for the insectoid race. If even they began to cower and flee in panic, one could easily imagine the enormous impact it would have on the common people.
The entire insectoid Sacred Warrior world would fall into chaos!
Several minutes later, Mingjing finished gathering information and took out a white handkerchief to wipe the sweat off her forehead.
"Lady Mingjing, may I ask if you have gathered enough information to begin the hunt for that human warrior?" Duabi asked anxiously.
Mingjing lightly nodded. Psychic Tracking was a very wondrous ability. Mingjing had constructed a model of Xia Fei in her mind, and it was as if she really knew him and was familiar with him.
For some reason, Mingjing felt an inexplicable attraction from Xia Fei's model. It was as if this man, who shared the same origin as her, had an indescribable sense of intimacy. This was completely different from when she was with her master and senior brothers.
Mingjing did not know why, so she could only bury this secret in her heart.
…
In the outdoor training field of the Flying Soaring Martial Club, a muscular man was observing hundreds of students with cold eyes. He walked back and forth in front of them, and if anyone made a slight mistake or was distracted, he would step up and yell at them, or even beat them up.
Martial halls were a new thing in the insectoid race. As a supplement to the Sacred Guild, martial halls not only accepted nobles but also decent commoners. After graduation, as long as they passed the test, they could also become Sacred Warriors.
In the stratified insectoid race, commoners had almost no chance of making a meteoric rise. Thus, when martial halls that accepted commoners appeared, they were immediately sought after by the populace. After all, this was an opportunity for a sparrow to become a phoenix. Once one became a Sacred Warrior, they could immediately cast off their status as commoners, and even their descendants would benefit.
A teenage insectoid youth excitedly ran over from afar, shouting loudly, "Dad! Dad! The latest Sacred Warrior Ranking is out! You're ninety-ninth! You've entered the top one hundred! "
The burly man was startled, and then he fell silent, his complexion somewhat pale.
"Pang 'er, this isn't the time for the ranking to be announced. Where did you get this news?" the burly man asked with a frown.
"The ranking rules have changed. From now on, it will be updated once a week. Take a look. This is the new ranking."
After saying this, the youth turned on his microcomputer and flipped to the ranking page. The burly man continued to look, and sure enough, he found his name at the end.
Smacking his lips, the burly man sighed and said nothing.
The youth did not understand why his father was unhappy, but he happened to overhear the conversation of the nearby students.
"Master entered the top one hundred of the Sacred Warrior Ranking?!"
"That's a good thing. Why are you so surprised?"
"What good thing? It's not like you don't know about it. A human warrior ran into the Alliance and specifically targeted the warriors on the ranking. Even Hezar was killed by him."
"And that human is vicious and merciless. He won't even let their families go. I heard that the several thousand beautiful women by Cabinet Elder Hami's side were all killed by him!"
"Even beautiful women are killed?!"
"That's right! If he comes here to kill our master, us brothers will probably suffer as well. "
"In any case, I'm not coming tomorrow. Nothing is more important than my own life."
"I'm not coming either."
The students whispered to each other and discussed among themselves. The middle-aged man sighed when he heard this.
"Pang 'er, go home and tell your mother. Have her pack up and prepare to return home for a few days."
The youth had never imagined that his father, the hero in his heart, would take such a stance. He drooped his head, the excitement from just a moment ago long gone.
The two of them left behind the training students and headed home. The youth timidly asked, "Father, are you afraid that that human warrior will come looking for trouble?"
The veins on the burly man's forehead bulged, and he braced himself. "Afraid? Father has never been afraid of anyone in his life! Pang 'er, I'm doing this for the sake of you and your mother. You must know that the Sacred Warrior Ranking is a ranking of death! "
Similar scenes were playing out all over the insectoid territory. The ranking that had once symbolized glory and glory was now an eyesore. Those who were on the ranking were on tenterhooks, unable to eat or sleep well, worried that Xia Fei would suddenly appear and take their heads.
Those who were not on the ranking prayed to the gods every day, praying that they would not be on the ranking of death. There were even some who brought large sums of cash to the ranking production companies, begging their grandfathers and grandmothers so that they would not be listed in the top one hundred.
