Chapter 379: One Man's War
At the southern border of the Pan-Human Alliance, the Death Trio Star Region's rebel quelling army made up of 105 fleets were returning to the Alliance as quickly as possible.
The flagship, the Goddess of Joy.
The ship's captain, Admiral Ribero, stood at the bow of the ship with his arms crossed, looking at a blinking beacon in front of him. This beacon represented the Pan-Human Alliance's territory, and passing it would mean entering the Alliance's territory.
The red beacon flickered, and Ribero's weathered face finally revealed a rare smile.
"Reporting, General. All fleet members have arrived safely."
Ribero looked around from the porthole and saw countless wormholes opening one after another. Alliance warships appeared on the two wings of his flagship, forming a powerful fleet.
"General, we've entered the Alliance's territory. We've connected to the interplanetary internet and the military's encrypted network. We can contact headquarters at any time," Ribero said in a deep voice.
"Report our position to headquarters and pass down my orders. The insectoids have launched an undeclared war, and the Alliance is currently at a critical juncture of life and death. We need to rendezvous with Marshal Tai's southern fleet as soon as possible. All fleet members are not to rest and are to move out immediately!"
This expeditionary force had just returned from the Death Trio Star Region, and many of the fleet members had not rested for a long time. Many warships did not even have time to replenish their ammunition before they set off to rescue the Alliance. No one had any complaints about this, and everyone persevered with high morale, hoping to chase the evil insectoids out of the Pan-Human Alliance's territory.
The massive fleet of tens of thousands of warships was anchored in the pitch-black space. Every warp would take around fifty minutes to recover energy, and there was still some time before the next warp. Everyone was busy making use of this time to conduct small-scale repairs on their ships.
However, any machine would always have malfunctions, big or small, and the busiest ones on this arduous journey were the mechanics. The rapid march did not allow any warships to fall behind, and if a machine malfunctioned, the fleet would not stop and wait. If they wanted to keep up with the fleet, they had to maintain their warships in peak condition.
Many of the tens of thousands of mechanics in the fleet did not get any rest. They relied on medicine to maintain their energy and remained at their posts, ensuring that nothing would go wrong.
All of a sudden!
A wormhole opened in front of the fleet, followed by a second and a third!
"Reporting, General! A wormhole node has appeared thirty thousand kilometers ahead! The number … it's already nearing 10,000, and it's still increasing rapidly!! "The radar operator reported in panic.
Just like throwing countless stones into the sea at the same time, the calm universe was stirred up. The countless wormholes meant that there would be an equal number of warships on the other side, and Ribero knew very well that this fleet was definitely not friendly!
What was worse was that the Alliance Expeditionary Force was not prepared for the jump at all. Even if they wanted to escape, they would not be able to!
A few minutes later, about six hundred insectoid fleets appeared before the Alliance expeditionary force, their pitch-black muzzles glaring angrily at the 105 exhausted fleets before them.
…
Superflagship Freedom, military temporary command center.
"What?! The expeditionary force has been surrounded by the insectoid fleet that suddenly appeared! "Marshal Tai slammed the table and said," The expeditionary force is at the southern border! When did the insectoid fleet get there? Why didn't we receive any information beforehand!? "
His eyes looked like they were about to spit out fireworks. No one dared to look directly at the furious Tai.
"How many of them are there? How are the expeditionary army's losses? "Tai suppressed the anger in his heart and asked.
The command center was dead silent. No one answered, and no one even dared to breathe loudly.
"What? Are you all dead? "Tai asked coldly.
Williams handed the latest report to Tai. "Six hundred combined fleets have circled around the Alliance's periphery to the south. Ribero's expeditionary force has been completely wiped out. Not a single one escaped."
Tai slumped back into his chair after reading the report. He was in a daze.
Another six hundred combined fleets?! Six hundred in the north, six hundred in the center, and six hundred in the south. This meant that the entire Pan-human Alliance had been firmly surrounded by eighteen hundred combined fleets. The situation was very clear. The Alliance only had a little over a thousand fleets in total, while the insectoids had eighteen hundred elite combined fleets!
The disparity in strength was simply too great! Since when had the insectoids become so powerful? After all, these fleets were not their entire fleet. A conservative estimate would place the insectoid fleets at least 2.5 times the number of the Alliance fleets!
This was a meticulously prepared war. Everything had already been planned out by the Golden Tent, and nothing had been left out.
Tai seemed to have aged a great deal in that instant. A sorrowful feeling of helplessness pierced deep into his heart.
That was when the emergency communications system rang at an inopportune moment, the ear-piercing sound seemingly mocking the military's failure.
After hesitating for some time, the communications soldier in charge of receiving the report finally braced himself and stood up. With an incredibly dejected and heavy tone, he said, "Admiral Layton of the Northern Fleet has called. The insectoids have already crossed their borders and are marching toward the Endaro Star Region."
Tai was stunned, but he gritted his teeth and said nothing.
Williams asked, "How many? Does the Northern Fleet have the confidence to stop the enemy?"
"One … One thousand combined fleets," the communications soldier lowered his head and replied in a very low voice.
…
This was by no means a good day. The Alliance was being attacked from three sides and forced into a desperate situation. Meanwhile, Xia Fei was lying in his room, staring at the empty ceiling.
There were so many cigarette butts on the floor that he could not even count. Xia Fei lit and tossed them down one after another, yet he did not even take a puff.
The capital had fallen, and the news of a hundred billion people being killed made Xia Fei very sad. He could ignore the lives of these one hundred billion people, but he could not ignore the lady he loved and cared about the most, Avril.
Xia Fei suddenly got up from his bed, expressionlessly making his way to the command deck and entering a series of commands into the mainframe. Phantom wanted to say a few words of comfort to Xia Fei, but he could not bring himself to say anything, so he could only keep his mouth shut.
Even the little robot Pod could feel the suffocating pressure in the air and the terrifying rage in Xia Fei's chest. He brought over a glass of milk and let it float in the air. Seeing that Xia Fei had no intention of drinking it, he switched to a glass of cola and repeated the process.
"Let's not return to the Alliance for now," Xia Fei quietly said after adjusting the data.
"Why?"
"I have some things I need to do."
With that said, Xia Fei turned around and silently returned to his cultivation chamber. That night, he only did one thing, and that was to wipe down his weapon and combat uniform again and again and again.
…
Between the two mountains was a dense thicket, and an insectoid warrior was sitting in the thicket. His body was as fat as an ox, and his muscles were as hard as steel. His skin was green, and he wore a metal helmet on his head.
His eyes were closed as he sat on a boulder, seemingly focused on cultivating. Beside him were hundreds of corpses that had died horribly. They were all insectoid corpses.
None of the corpses were complete. They had all been torn into pieces by external forces, and their organs and blood were scattered all over the ground.
If he ventured deeper into the thicket, he would find even more corpses and organs. There were at least five thousand of them. Killing these low-level slaves was just his routine training every three days. In his monthly large-scale training, he would have fifty thousand slaves as his opponents, not allowing a single one of them to return alive.
Howling Moon, the bloodiest and most terrifying insectoid warrior on Planet Manti. The helmet on his head was not for defense, nor was it for aesthetics, but because he did not have a skull.
There were many insectoids who had not fully evolved, and Howling Moon was just one of them.
He adjusted his breathing and slowly opened his eyes. He saw a man in black standing less than ten meters away from him, yet Howling Moon did not notice him at all.
"You're Howling Moon?" Xia Fei asked coldly.
"I am. Who are you?" Howling Moon angrily asked. He stood up and pointed at Xia Fei with a bloodied hand.
Though he only had three fingers, each one looked like a pair of iron pincers, and there were sharp barbs on his fingertips, making him look abnormally ferocious.
Xia Fei had no intention of answering his question, continuing to ask, "Are you the best warrior on this planet?"
Howling Moon angrily roared, "I'm a Sacred Warrior! Of course I'm the best! There's no doubt about that! "
Xia Fei nodded in satisfaction. He took off his black cloak and revealed his true appearance.
"Human! You're actually a human! "
Xia Fei tossed the black cloak aside and stretched his arms and legs, looking very relaxed.
"I've already killed all of your tribesmen. Thank you for killing the last batch for me."
Xia Fei glanced at the corpses strewn all over the ground, a wicked smile appearing on his lips.
Howling Moon was shocked. There were at least a thousand people in this tribe six hundred miles away from the forest, and there was no lack of outstanding insectoid warriors among them. Though they were not as strong as he was, they were still much stronger than the slaves he had killed. If what Xia Fei said was true, then his cultivation should be around the same level as his own.
Howling Moon suddenly laughed maniacally. "I've long heard that humans are all shameless fellows, and it looks like it's true. You think you can kill my tribesmen? Dream on! "
Suddenly, Xia Fei attacked without any warning. He tapped the ground with his feet and arrived at Howling Moon's side, his left hand holding October Flying Snow, which carried a bone-chilling aura, heading straight for Howling Moon's face.
Howling Moon did not expect Xia Fei to be so fast. As a top-class insectoid warrior, his reaction was naturally not slow. He tilted his head backward and reached out with both hands, trying to grab Xia Fei.
Grab the enemy and tear them to shreds. This was Howling Moon's best move.
Unfortunately, he had underestimated the power of October Flying Snow in Xia Fei's hand. It must be mentioned that this was an Eternal rank frost dagger. Beneath its crystalline exterior was a soul-stirring killing intent.
* Bang! *
Many shards of ice shot out in all directions.
October Flying Snow's cold aura froze Howling Moon's large head into a block of ice, and Xia Fei's follow-up attack turned the ice into a hail of ice. Howling Moon's flesh and blood were mixed among the shards of ice.
* Thud! *
The large headless corpse fell to the ground, mixed in with the other shredded corpses.
Xia Fei turned around and expressionlessly left as if nothing had happened. It was as if he was even colder and more ruthless than October Flying Snow.
"That's a Sacred Warrior of the insectoid race. Killing him is equivalent to declaring war on the entire insectoid race. All the insectoid warriors will see you as their mortal enemy." Phantom pursed his lips.
"I know."
"Where are we going now?"
