Outside the city
The armored soldiers marched quickly. It had rained the day before and the ground was filled with mud. If they were not careful, they would fall into the mud.
Li Zhengyuan was still urging them, "Hurry, hurry!"
The armored soldiers did not complain, as there was smoke rising from within the city. From afar, they could see it. The Daoist officials could see blood splashing up into the sky, and their faces were dark.
The armored soldiers walked on foot, while the Daoist officials rode their horses. The city was right in front of them.

Li Zhengyuan had just turned a corner when he saw the demon soldiers chasing after a group of citizens. A woman was covered in blood and was carrying a child. She was running with the crowd and tripped and fell to the ground.

The woman's face was filled with fear. Just as she was about to get up, the demon soldiers were already behind her. The woman held the child tightly in her arms and saw the flash of a blade.
"Bind!" A shout was heard and the demon soldiers stopped.
"Shoot!" Numerous arrows rained down, as the Demon soldier brandished his blade to block them. The sound of arrows piercing through the air could be heard, as the Demon soldier did not die. He swung his blade at the woman, and blood splattered everywhere. The woman used her body to protect the child, and was killed instantly. Li Zhengyuan's face turned ashen. The Demon soldier's ferocious nature made one's hair stand on end. He drew his sword, "Kill all these Demon soldiers."
"Kill!" The armored soldier had long been enraged by the demon soldier's cruelty. Shouting loudly, he pounced forward and hacked the demon soldier to death. As for the fleeing commoners, when they saw the soldiers of the imperial court coming, they felt their bodies lighten. They sat on the ground and wailed loudly.
"Why aren't you all retreating yet? Are you all just waiting for death here?" An officer shouted. Only then did the commoners wake up from their stupor and continue to flee.
"Pfft, pfft, pfft!" The armored soldiers surrounded them while the Daoist priests cast spells from the side. The archers shot arrows and separated the demon soldiers.

The sounds of killing grew louder and louder, as the number of demon soldiers decreased. All of a sudden, a troop of demon soldiers saw that the situation wasn't looking good. They broke out of the formation and ran towards the city gates.
Li Zhengyuan calmly called out, "Officer Fan."
"I'm here."
"Coordinate with Officer Ge and annihilate them."
"Yes!" Officer Fan replied as he led his soldiers away. From afar, the sounds of killing could be heard.
Li Zhengyuan looked around and saw that the streets were filled with corpses. Blood was everywhere. Many of the corpses had their eyes wide open, as though they had died with grievances.
Li Zhengyuan saw a female corpse. She looked extremely beautiful, and was hugging a baby. Her eyes were wide open, and he sighed. He stretched out his hand to cover her eyes. However, in the blink of an eye, her eyes opened once again.
Li Zhengyuan sighed as he stood up. The sounds of killing gradually died down. Before long, an official came to report, "The demon soldiers that had charged into the city have been annihilated."
Li Zhengyuan looked at the scene and exhaled heavily, "These demon soldiers weren't strong. It's obvious that they were newly formed. Hence, it wasn't too difficult to suppress them. However, even if they weren't strong, the commoners wouldn't be able to resist them."
"From the looks of it, thousands of commoners have been killed."
