Chapter 402

Words:1832Update:22/06/27 04:35:26

Report

It's 2 am now, so I have forty-four minutes left.

Chen Ge walked down the road for a long time, and he felt like he was not far from the tunnel.

The trees on the side of the road swayed, and the leaves rustled. The white cat in his arms was getting more and more anxious, and its claws gripped Chen Ge's shirt tightly.

Looks like the white cat has sensed something. Chen Ge rubbed the white cat's head. You used to be so aggressive, but how come you're so cowardly now?

The white cat looked at Chen Ge with puppy eyes. The cat's emotions were complicated, and it could not be explained in a few words.

The Nightmare Mission doesn't allow me to bring any items from the Haunted House or ghosts, but the white cat has perfectly avoided these restrictions. It's not a ghost, but it dares to chase after ghosts when it's angry. Looks like I'll have to train it in the future.

Chen Ge had his eyes on the white cat. The blood vessels from the Society of Strange Tales were originally prepared for a Red Specter, but the white cat hasn't changed much after consuming them. After I deal with the chairperson, I'll go take over the 24th floor of Fang Hwa Apartments. Hopefully, I'll find something there.

Hugging the white cat, Chen Ge was thankful that he had saved it. There will be more Nightmare Missions in the future, and the white cat will come in handy.

The white cat gripped Chen Ge's shirt tightly. It was obvious that it was very reliant on Chen Ge, and it had feelings for Chen Ge. I guess this is good karma.

The man and the cat walked down the abandoned road at night. Looking at it from afar, it felt very warm.

The night breeze rustled the trees, and the shadows on the sides of the road swayed. They walked for another twenty minutes, and the temperature dropped.

The sound of wind whistled in their ears, and a strange air current rushed at them from ahead.

"We're here."

Chen Ge slowly raised his head to look at the tunnel that cut through the mountain, and his pupils narrowed.

It was dark and deep, and he could not see the end.

The corner of Chen Ge's shirt fluttered in the wind, and he suddenly felt very cold. The cold was not on his skin but from the depth of his mind, and every nerve in his body was shivering.

"I haven't felt this way in a long time."

Chen Ge approached slowly. In front of the six-meter-tall, ten-meter-wide tunnel, he seemed very small.

Looking into the darkness, there seemed to be a terrifying monster staring at Chen Ge.

Without the company of his employees, Chen Ge felt like he had returned to his first nightmare mission. He stood in front of the tunnel and took a deep breath.

"This Nightmare Mission is really a nightmare!"

The length of the tunnel in front of him was definitely more than 44 meters. Chen Ge took out his phone and shone it into the tunnel.

There were all kinds of scratches on the walls, as well as some strange characters. The road was relatively flat, but there were some animal carcasses on it.

"There's still some time before the mission starts." Chen Ge stamped his numb feet and patted his cheeks. "I can't panic. I need to stay calm."

He logged into the short video platform on his phone, took a few photos, and posted a status.

The gist was that there would be a new video that night, so everyone should wait and see.

The replies from his fans chased away the fear in Chen Ge's heart. He leaned against the rock beside the tunnel entrance, and he did not forget to act pitiful to increase the popularity of his Haunted House.

At 2 am, a person running to the side of a haunted tunnel to post a status update — that was rare on the short video platform.

The comment section soon gained popularity until the manager of the platform sent Chen Ge a private message, begging him not to do something so big in the future. They were worried about Chen Ge's safety.

After a few casual replies, Chen Ge did not take their words to heart. He was there for the mission.

At 2: 43 am, Chen Ge exited the video platform and stood at the entrance of the tunnel.

"It's starting."

Opening the video recording app on his phone, Chen Ge placed the white cat on his shoulder. When the time on his phone changed from 43 to 44, he stepped into the tunnel.

This place was much darker than the outside. It was like a pitch-black sea.

Entering the tunnel, his whole body was enveloped by a chilling feeling, and breathing became difficult.

"Chen Ge, Chen Ge …"

With each step, Chen Ge would say his name. This way, when he finished the forty-fourth step, the mission would be completed.

The tunnel entrance moved further and further away from Chen Ge. The light behind him blurred until everything was swallowed by darkness.

The light on his phone was like a small lamp, and Chen Ge was like a boat that had lost its way. The only thing he could do was finish the forty-fourth step.

The deeper he went, the greater the pressure he felt. His brain was warning him to leave immediately.

Cold sweat drenched his forehead, and his own voice echoed in the tunnel. Slowly, he started to lose track of who was calling him Chen Ge.

After the fifteenth step, the white cat in Chen Ge's embrace suddenly perked up its ears, and its multi-colored eyes stared down the tunnel.

There was a sound coming from deep inside the tunnel. It sounded like footsteps mixed with cries for help.

"Something's coming."

In the darkness, it felt like there was a giant spider crawling over his head. Small grains of sand landed on Chen Ge's body. His back was wet, but he resisted the urge to look and continued to move forward.

The thing above his head did not move, and to make matters worse, there seemed to be a second person's footsteps coming from behind him.

The footsteps were staggering like the person's body was twisted, and he could not walk normally.

Chen Ge maintained his speed, and the footsteps slowly closed in. It was less than one meter behind him.

"Chen Ge …"

Calling his own name, green veins popped on the back of Chen Ge's hands, but he did not turn around.

After the twenty-sixth step, the white cat seemed to finally see the thing in the darkness clearly, and it hugged Chen Ge's arm tightly.

Not far away from Chen Ge stood a woman in a red outfit.

Her head was lowered like a madwoman that had escaped from a nearby village.

Her hair was messy, and it covered her face. She stood on the other side of the tunnel, several meters away from Chen Ge.

His clothes were scratched by the white cat, but Chen Ge was unfazed. He had also seen the woman, the woman that one should never run into in the tunnel.

His calves were numb, and his palms were covered in sweat. Chen Ge tried his best to keep his eyes away from the woman's direction.

He kept his eyes on the darkness of the tunnel. When he walked past the woman, he caught a glimpse out of the corner of his eyes. The woman with her head lowered suddenly moved.

As if asking for help, she raised her arm and waved at Chen Ge!

A chill crawled up his spine to his brain. Chen Ge thought back to the ghost stories about this woman.

The drivers who did not save her would be haunted by her until they left the tunnel, and the drivers who did save her would meet with accidents in the tunnel.

Thinking about it, it was better to leave her alone.
