The third movie is called "Traveler", so I decided on a more relaxed style. The structure is also very simple. Just like I said before, a person will stop and see some scenery, get to know some people, and complete some things. However, I won't be deeply involved in it.
Frankly speaking, it's quite difficult to write the content of a travelogue. It wasn't easy to create a character, familiarize oneself with a place, and gain a sense of difference in customs. Then, one would have to leave and continue on one's journey. It's a great test of one's ability to quickly introduce unique characters and interesting events. Now that I think about it, before Little Ke advanced to Marionettist, I was doing quite well. Later on, I was busy doing things and had too many things to write. Furthermore, I was basically revisiting old places, so I left out the previous chapters.
It's relatively urgent. I see many people say that my outline is very detailed, but that's not the case at all. What I'm detailed about are the various settings. The outline usually includes the theme of the novel, the structure to be written, which lines to pull back, which new foreshadowing needs to be set up, and which suspense to unfold. Then, it's all about free expression. Only after one story ends will I think of a detailed outline for the next story. With hundreds of thousands of words, to think of every plot in advance is not only a waste of time, but it's also very stiff. This is because if one doesn't really write it out, there's really no way to know what the plot will be like or how to continue.
Furthermore, during the writing process, I often have new inspiration. For example, when I wrote the scene of Little Ke leaving Baekeland at the end of the previous novel, I had the finishing touch and the scene of her returning amidst the turbulent undercurrents. I also had the predetermined appearance of her brother and sister. At the same time, when I was organizing the outline, I also had the marking of World's appearance in the book. However, compared to the ending, there wasn't anything more specific. Later on, when I wrote about the release of the Nightmare, I had the inspiration to convey a message to his daughter, presenting another meaning to the end of the journey. When I wrote Ge Rosell's Travels, I began to set up the specific characters in the book. When I made a Rouen soldier, I suddenly had the inspiration to return home. Adding all of this together, I had a very clear idea of how to write the third novel.
Overall, the third novel is more bland. This is determined by its structure and predetermined style. I have also mentioned in advance that those who want to see a huge event at the end might be a little disappointed. Just like what I said earlier, I want to create a feeling of a turbulent undercurrent and danger at the end. This includes Ince's appearance, the Mother Tree of Desire's evil intentions, and the attack from Rose School. I want to tighten all of this to set off the scene of Little Ke's return to Baekeland.
Yes, in the third novel, firstly, it's difficult to write the first part of the novel. Secondly, I have to write two dungeons, the ruins of the battle of gods and the World in the book. This is a rather huge test for me.
Those who have read my previous novels should know that the Luck Destroyer and Arcane Art dungeons can be said to be rather dry, crude, and not very attractive. The former is strong at the end of the dungeon. As for the latter, I seriously thought about it. It's probably only the analysis of the dungeon in the dream and the bragging skills of the new World that are more interesting. The others aren't too good.
In this life, many dungeons have been expanded into a World with the help of the unlimited structure. I can slowly write, introduce, and pave the way. Most of the time, there are companions around. Relatively speaking, it's much more attractive. However, the few individual dungeons, such as the Zhenwu's Decoy Grave, still have the problem of being dry and crude. I have to rely on suspense.
Martial Arts basically doesn't have any dungeons. There's only one in the war-torn zones, but it's not much. There's nothing much to summarize. When it came to the third novel of Mysteries, I seriously thought about how to deal with these two large dungeons.
Based on my experience in this life, I first decided on 'suspense' and 'companions'. Based on my experience before and during the writing of Mysteries, I decided on 'interesting'. However, I always feel that it's still lacking.
Later, when I was chatting with Bean in the past, I realized that our writing methods are different. I first want to tell a story, a view of the World. Then, based on the story and the background, I decide on a few main characters with special characteristics. After that, I slowly add new ones. He first thinks about these interesting people, then decides on what kind of story will be created when these people meet, travel together, and have a grudge against each other.
Although I have always adhered to my own writing philosophy, I have also slowly incorporated some of his experience into it. So, I have been thinking whether I can change the 'companions' to 'characters' in the dungeon. I can create some unique and interesting people and let them collide with each other to develop a story. This will enrich the dungeon's content and make it more attractive as a whole. That's how I came up with the Ruins of the War of the Gods.
The results are not bad. This is the first time when I write a dungeon. Not only did the number of requests not decrease, it kept increasing. The content of nearly a hundred thousand words has been written down with great interest.
When I arrived at the World in the Book, I made another attempt. Because the first exploration of this dungeon will be very short, it's impossible to unfold the past of the characters inside. Thus, there's no way to express their sadness and happiness. So, I was thinking about the problem of how to express it.
In the end, the title 'Traveler' helped me finalize my thinking. As a traveler, there's no way for me to enter into other people's lives. Everything I see is just the surface. Then, I will have different feelings. For example, if I see a drunk girl vomiting and crying by the side of the road, some people will think that she has no self-respect. Some people will wonder if she has experienced something sad. Some people will think that it's noisy.
Based on the fact that the sadness and happiness of humans are different, I purposely didn't write about the past of Ge, Rosell, Mobet, and the others to exaggerate their emotions. I only faithfully, objectively, and calmly recorded what they should say and what they should do. I didn't touch on their inner monologues at all.
If you look closely, you'll realize that I basically didn't directly write about Little Ke's inner feelings in that paragraph. I purposely left it blank.
So, some people will feel that it's forced to be emotional and a little awkward. Some friends will be more sentimental. Some will think deeply and extend the story, trying to restore it.
This is the effect I want to achieve. The sadness and happiness of humans are different. In the eyes of a traveler, it's even more so. Smile.
I wrote a lot. The conclusion of the third dungeon is that the characters and the story are very well integrated, but it's a little rushed when I'm buttoning it up. Some parts can be stretched out a little more.
Alright, the further I write, the more difficult it gets. I need time to relax my mind and organize the outline. I have to apply for leave again. Also, my stomach hasn't been feeling well this week. I'll go and take a look tomorrow. I'll rest for three days. Hmm, from this summary, it'll be two and a half days. I'll start updating the fourth dungeon on Saturday at noon.
I'll go and update the characters later. Everyone, please mention which ones are there so that I don't forget.
Oh right, some of my friends guessed correctly. The fourth dungeon, "The Undying"!
Thank you again, everyone. I'll also ask for monthly votes ~
