Chapter 622

Report

In Zhang Heng's previous life, the "Legend of the Night" series was a relatively successful film with a low budget. At least it had some die-hard fans. However, the most talked about part of the series was the setting, the war between vampires and werewolves in the city, and the female lead, Kate. As for the plot … what was it?

Well, that was a little too much. There was still a plot, and it was basically coherent, but it wasn't particularly detailed. They simply used Romeo and Juliet as a cover. Moreover, the funds were limited, and the focus was on cinematics and action sequences. Therefore, they could only make the plot sound melodramatic. It wasn't that the story couldn't be melodramatic, but it required some effort to make it look good and not be disgusted by the audience. For example, in "Titanic", "I'll jump if you jump," or "You'll definitely die of old age in a big, warm bed, not here." Everyone admitted that it was melodramatic, but Cameron was able to get the audience to accept it, and it earned two billion dollars at the box office worldwide.

Therefore, it was necessary to change the story. Adriaan replaced the male lead with a little girl. If it was still limited to the framework of the original, it wouldn't be easy to make it look good. However, if they jumped out and redesigned the plot, they would be able to do whatever they wanted. Besides, if it was a little girl, wouldn't it be melodramatic? Maybe it would be better.

The story continued. Selina quickly caught up to the werewolf, and then they fought fiercely in the messy shopping mall. Both of them no longer had any scruples about revealing their true forms. Selina was fine. Only her eyes turned blue and her sharp teeth were exposed. However, the werewolves were much thicker. Also, because they had sufficient funds, their fur was also fine and exposed.

The fight was still a contest of speed and strength. Even though vampires were not much weaker than werewolves in terms of strength — at least according to the settings — it was still a little unreal for a female to be able to defeat a guy that was almost twice her size with a single punch. Even though this was a work that wasn't based in reality, it wasn't good to exaggerate it too much.

Although the werewolf tried his best to stop the most powerful vampire, the Nightwalker, in the end, he was still no match for her. In the end, he was hit by two silver spinning darts, fell, and broke a large piece of glass. He lay on the ground, dying. However, just as Selina was about to finish him off, an even more ferocious transformed werewolf suddenly appeared. It was about the same size as the one on the ground, but it was more agile, more agile, and had more combat awareness.

This was the first time Selina was at a disadvantage since she appeared. Caught off guard, she was completely suppressed, and was finally sent flying. However, even though she immediately jumped up and put on a fearless stance, the other party did not seem to want to waste too much time with her. He stared at her with a cold grin, picked up the injured werewolf on the ground and left.

The opening action scene was basically over. What followed was a brief but comprehensive introduction of the two races. The vampires didn't break away from their traditional image. They were mysterious, elegant, luxurious, and decadent. The only thing that was out of place was the person in charge of the Nightwalker, Selina, who didn't smile at all. She was like a machine.

They still had the structure of the Big Three taking turns in power and a parliament. However, unlike the original version, the vampires were divided into hawks and doves. This was because the werewolf's power was slightly stronger. After all, although werewolves had the problem of going berserk, they could move around during the day, which was more beneficial for them to blend into human society. So as long as they knew how to run things, their power wouldn't be much weaker than the vampires.

Among the Big Three, Marcus didn't care about anything, Victor was a hawk, and Amelia was a dove. Although Amelia was currently in power, she was actually only a figurehead. The person in charge of the Nightwalker, Selina, was Victor's adopted daughter, and the second in command, Klein, was an ambitious fellow who wanted to rise in power.

Of course, Amelia's so-called dove was just giving them some things as a master after the war with the werewolves stopped. She thought that this was enough for the werewolves who were still slaves to the vampires a few centuries ago, so one could imagine how ridiculous this peace was.

These were all background settings, revealed in various ways throughout the story, and then let the audience piece together the prototype. The main plot was still unwaveringly developing. Selina, who returned to the station, was suspicious of the werewolf, because it was very similar to the werewolf leader Lucien. At the same time, she went to the person in charge of weapons to ask about the ultraviolet bullets used by the werewolves.

This was also one of the most interesting parts of the "Legends of the Night" series. It used a scientific method to explain the creation of vampires and werewolves, and why vampires were allergic to ultraviolet rays, while werewolves were allergic to silver utensils. It could be seen from the self-appellation of the two races in the original summary. Unfortunately, it didn't persist in the end. After all, this was a medium-budget commercial movie.

Although Adriaan had people strengthen this aspect when writing the novel, it didn't show much in the movie. That was true. After all, movies and novels were two different media. Just like what was said before, when reading a novel, if one felt that something was confusing, they could go back and re-read it, but in the cinema, they couldn't go back and re-watch the movie.

Back to the movie. Although Selina's main focus was on the relationship between the giant werewolf and Lucien, she was also puzzled as to why they were fighting over the little human girl. Then the camera turned to the werewolves, who were also discussing the escape of their prey.

"I'm very disappointed, gentlemen. I'm very disappointed. We took a huge risk, and with the help of someone, we finally let the target escape, but we failed at the last moment. I'm very disappointed." Lucien, whose hair was disheveled and looked very wild, stood in the middle of the hall of his den, staring at his subordinates.

His subordinates didn't dare to say anything. It was the big black man, who was also his trusted subordinate, who walked out after bandaging his wounds. "Sorry, boss."

"You should feel lucky. Fortunately, they didn't use the silver nitrate bullets last time, or you wouldn't have been able to come back." A skinny old man followed him out. "Lucien, I have good news and bad news."

"Tell me about it." Lucien waved his hand.

"The good news is, the blood sample worked. Basically … it's perfect. The bad news is, the blood needs to be kept fresh. "The old man spread out his hands.

"Very good." Lucien knew what he meant. "Everyone, get moving. We must find them as soon as possible!"

"I'll go too, boss." The big black man also joined in. "As long as they're still in this city, I'll definitely find them for you."

While the werewolves were on the move, the vampires weren't idle either. Amelia was furious about the result of the target escaping, and she told Klein to find her as soon as possible.

"I don't understand, sir. Why do we have to find the little girl? There are many test subjects." Krau was puzzled.

"You don't need to understand. Anyway, mobilize everyone, we must find her," Amelia said loudly. Amelia said loudly. In this version, she was finally no longer a small character who only appeared once.

Then, she turned to Selina who was called over. "Bring the little girl back. If you can't bring her back … then kill her."

Although Selina was Victor's adopted daughter, and she was focused on killing werewolves, and although she was suspicious about the werewolf, there was no more evidence, so she agreed. Klein, who was beside her, looked jealous. Without a doubt, in this version, Lucien's spy on the side of the vampires was still this guy, and the reason was similar — to wield power. Of course, he didn't know what the girl meant to Alexander's descendants.

While the Vampires and Werewolves were on the move, the man and woman hiding in the hotel with the little girl were also running around anxiously.

"We have to escape, I don't want to return to that damn place!"

"I know, I know, but how are we going to escape? We don't have anything, and it's not just those damned vampires who are looking for us! What you saw, that's … that's a werewolf … "

"We have to think of a way. If they find us, no matter who it is, we're dead!"

A man and a woman were arguing in a low and hurried voice in the room, until a very young but very cold voice rang out. "You can hand me over."

The little girl, who hadn't spoken since she was brought out, finally spoke. Her expression was very indifferent, as if she was used to being manipulated by others. It had to be said that Dakota's acting was outstanding. At least, there were very few people of his age who could compare to him. He portrayed the feeling of despair very well.

"I believe that I'm the only one they want," the little girl continued.

This made the man and woman shut their mouths. After all, they had escaped together. Even if they thought about it, they couldn't really do it. But before they could think of a better idea, the werewolves came. These guys received orders to capture the little girl, and naturally, the man and woman's scenes came to an end.

Faced with the sudden appearance of the werewolf, although the little girl showed a panicked expression and hid in a corner, she was basically indifferent. That was until Selina, who rushed over alone after receiving the information, appeared. Although this kind of joke was cliché, as long as the rhythm was good, the audience loved it. When Selina broke through the window, Adriaan clearly heard Lily, who was watching the movie attentively, let out a sigh of relief.

What followed was naturally another big battle. Guns, punches, swords, and hidden weapons were used one after another. As one of the biggest selling points of this movie, the martial arts in this area were very good. Whether it was the flying kicks from the wall or the shooting style of gun-fighting, they were all very exciting. Of course, the most exciting part was the battle between Selina and Lucien in human form. It was a standard battle of speed and strength.

Adrian had paid special attention to this part of the fight. He had even discussed it with the choreographer from Hong Kong. To put it simply, it was a fight of speed, but not so fast that people couldn't see it clearly. It was somewhat similar to the last battle of the round table in a certain martial arts film. This way, coupled with the fact that the editing was done, the scene was naturally very good.

"You're Lucian?" Selena asked when they were in a stalemate.

"You actually know me? How surprising. It's been a few hundred years, but you're still so beautiful, Selina." Lucien moved his body and said in a frivolous tone, not caring at all.

"It was you back then?!" Selina's eyes turned blue, and her sharp teeth were exposed. She became more and more dangerous.

"That's what Victor said to you? Oh, of course, he can always make people believe these things. "Lucien sneered and then began to transform.

Even so, Selina still maintained a certain degree of restraint. She remembered that she had to bring the little girl back. Therefore, when she was suppressed by the transformed Lucien again, she immediately took the little girl away after forcing him to retreat. Lucien didn't chase after her. He just returned to his human form and snorted as he watched the car leave with a complicated expression. Then, he informed the others to chase after the car.

Because of this, Selina didn't go back immediately. Instead, she found a place to temporarily settle down.

"You're not hurt?" After checking the little girl, she asked.

"No," the little girl replied calmly.

"You're not afraid of me? Do you know who I am? "Selina was a little curious.

"I know." The little girl still looked indifferent, but she subconsciously hugged her knees.

"Where are you from?" After a moment of silence, Selina asked again.

"Lab." The little girl raised her head and looked at her. "Your lab."

"Our … lab?" Selina narrowed her eyes. "What's the lab for?"

"I don't know. They … always take my blood … one tube after another …" Although the little girl was still indifferent, the fear in her voice was very obvious. She closed her eyes as if she didn't dare to remember.

Even the cold Selina couldn't help but feel a little moved. It was as if something buried in her heart for a long time was starting to loosen. After a long time, she said, "It's very safe here. No one will hurt you if you stay here."

"Will you bring me back?" The little girl asked softly.

"Not for now." Unexpectedly, Selina gave this answer.

The little girl quickly fell asleep. Selina stood by the window for a long time. Under the dim light from outside, although her face was still cold, the audience knew that there must be waves in her heart. Finally, she walked in front of the sleeping little girl and looked at her silently. Gradually, her expression softened. Then, images began to appear in the camera.

It was a scene of her living in this world as a human. A happy little girl from the Middle Ages, bathing in the sunshine with her parents, poor but happy.

The director did a very good job here. Because the vampires were the main characters in the whole movie, the color was mainly cold, and the overall was dark and damp. Even though the vampires' base was colorful, it was only to highlight their Gothic decadence. However, when Selina began to recall, the color of the scene began to warm up, like a ray of winter sunshine. Although it looked far away, it still gave people a warm feeling.

Selina's face gradually thawed. Her eyes narrowed slightly, revealing a trace of heartfelt, palpitating pity. Throughout the whole movie, the female lead did not have many expressions. Most of the time, she acted cool with a cold face, like a killing machine. Therefore, the few expressions on her face were unusually attractive. Moreover, Kate's acting skills, which she had accumulated through the movies that Adriaan had prepared for her in the past, were all concentrated at this moment. Moreover, as a mother, she was naturally very emotional. The motherly aura hidden deep in her heart was silent but exceptionally strong. It easily revealed Selina's inner world in front of the audience and resonated with it.

"Very good, Kate. The appeal that you showed in this moment is not only strong in commercial movies, but also in niche independent movies," Adriaan whispered in Kate's ear.

"Of course, I have practiced countless times in private for this scene." Kate rolled her eyes at him and then sighed. "It's a pity that there's only one scene."

"Then how much more do you want?" Adriaan deliberately widened his eyes and then turned to his daughter. "Look, Lily, your mother is so greedy."

"Don't be noisy. I want to watch the movie." Lily waved her hand impatiently, directly blocking her father's words.

"This little girl …" Adriaan murmured, letting Kate hold his hand and continue to admire her.

Because of Kate's outstanding performance, this scene became the most classic scene in the whole movie, and it also became the turning point for Selina's transformation. This was another reason why the role of the key was played by a little girl, instead of the original Romeo type male lead.

There was nothing wrong with using love to change the female lead, but it was a bit abrupt to use this trick in a commercial movie where the main selling point was action. No matter what, even though Victor was the one who killed her entire family and turned her into this state, she was still a vampire, after all. It would be fine if there was enough foreshadowing, but if there wasn't, it would more or less give people the impression that she was an ungrateful wretch. Perhaps the audience wouldn't realize it, but they would subconsciously leave such an impression in their hearts.

Not to mention that Selina had lived for almost a thousand years. How could she be moved by a man so easily? This was too melodramatic. The reason why this kind of medium-budget commercial movie was rarely seen, and even if some people did, they would mostly be thinking about the action and CG. First, it was because it could not resonate with people like literary movies, and second, it was difficult for the details to stand up to scrutiny.

Therefore, instead of working on love, it was better to think about kinship. They would use an unfortunate little girl to evoke the memories in her heart, evoke her innate maternal instinct, and awaken her human side. Then, when it was revealed that Victor was the murderer of her family, the betrayal would be even more logical.

As mentioned before, a little girl could do the same thing, and she could do it even better.
