If I'm not discovered, there's still hope, isn't there? When he was less than 10 meters away from the thick forest, that was the only thought left in Tang Ling's mind. The zombies had already leaped over mercilessly. It was their usual move when they pounced on their prey.

Tang Ling almost went crazy when he rammed over. All he could do was risk it.

However, at that moment, he was suddenly pulled back. The familiar hand exploded with unbelievable power. It was his grandmother!

The rain had stopped. Further away, four to five pairs of grayish-white cruel eyes appeared. They reflected the Purple Moon and looked exceptionally bewitching.

Despair! All the zombies in the area gathered around him!

Tang Ling finally realized that he would fall into despair. Maintaining his composure was useless.

His sister was still quiet.

However, his grandmother suddenly struggled free from Tang Ling's grasp.

In the next moment, tremendous sorrow drowned Tang Ling. He saw his grandmother dash towards the zombies with unbelievable speed.

The tremendous impact knocked the jumping zombies away, but before they could stand up, his grandmother pounced on them again.

"Why aren't you running?" His grandmother did not turn around. She spoke in an unusually calm manner.

The vortex in Tang Ling's heart shattered. The warm blood that slowly seeped out burned him, making him want to scream and go crazy. He felt like he was in hell, but he still ran.

However, Tang Ling still ran. With a strength that he had never used before, he hugged his little sister tightly and ran into the forest without looking back.

'My sister … still has to live. I have to live too. She … still has to grow up!'

His tears were so hot that they almost burned his skin. Tang Ling's body trembled violently.

He struggled to this extent, yet he still failed to protect his grandmother.

He felt like a laughable ant. Everything he did was a joke in the eyes of those high and mighty people.

His tears were blown away by the wind. Tang Ling's courage was completely sucked away because he could not turn around to look at his grandmother. He was afraid that the scene of his grandmother being torn apart by the zombies would drive him back without a care in the world.

Stinging pain came from his shoulder. He did not know when his sister had bitten his shoulder, but she could not vent the despair and hatred in her heart.

"Little Ling … the old civilization really exists. It's beautiful …"

"As long as you're alive, there's hope …"

His grandmother's voice came from behind him. Then, the excited roars of the zombies drowned her last words. A merciless bone-cracking noise was soft but deafening in Tang Ling's ears.

"Wang." Tang Ling spoke softly and filled in the last word that his grandmother wanted to say, but the moment he opened his mouth, tears gushed out.

"Grandma …" The younger sister let go of her mouth and choked out two words. Her voice was faint and ethereal.

She seemed to have lost the ability to speak completely.

However, as long as she could live, she could grow up.

The forest was right in front of them.

"Interesting." With a light breeze, a voice that was hard to tell if it was male or female suddenly appeared.

There was no warning, and there was nothing in sight at all.

Tang Ling stopped and panted heavily. He bent down and hugged his little sister tightly like a dangerous beast.

Less than 10 meters in front of him, a figure wrapped in a black robe appeared in front of him as soon as the voice fell.

The black-robed man, it was the black-robed man he saw through the periscope!

Tang Ling's pupils shrunk. Even though the black-robed man was facing Tang Ling, under the Purple Moon's illumination, Tang Ling could not see his face under the hood. All he could see was a long strand of silver hair fluttering out from the tight black robe, reflecting a bewitching glow.

"It's all because of you, isn't it?" Tang Ling squeezed the words out of his clenched teeth. The conspiracy seemed to have surfaced.

Even though it was complicated and confusing, it was obvious enough, was it not?

The black-robed man did not answer Tang Ling's question. Behind him, there were seven to eight zombies that wandered around but did not attack him, further proving Tang Ling's guess.

Rage exploded the vortex in Tang Ling's heart. The blood that he sucked in earlier flowed rapidly to every part of his body, burning and expanding, driving Tang Ling's consciousness into a frenzy.

Tang Ling tried his best to hold it back, but he could not control the goosebumps that popped up all over his body. The bottomless sense of danger was far beyond the vicious snake or the zombie horde.

It was the first time he saw the black-robed man through the periscope.

"Does the Catastrophe Genetic Chain really exist?" The black-robed man muttered to himself, completely ignoring Tang Ling who had his guard up.

Tang Ling's body tensed up when he heard it. He did not understand what the black-robed man said even though he was familiar with the language.

Another gentle breeze blew over. Tang Ling's vision blurred for a moment as it echoed in the empty night. Another strange sentence came out of nowhere, "Great. This is a huge surprise."

Then, Tang Ling felt his arms empty. His sister was gone.

Immense despair rose from the bottom of his heart. He looked up and saw his little sister in the black-robed man's hand.

Even his Precise Instinct was useless?

Otherwise, why did he not notice anything when the black-robed man snatched his sister away?

Despair was like the sharpest knife that sliced away the last of Tang Ling's fear. He clenched his fists and dashed towards the black-robed man without a second thought.

What was there to be afraid of at a time like this? At least, he was risking his life for his sister, was he not?

"Hmph!" The black-robed man single-handedly grabbed his sister and sized her up carefully. He did not even spare a glance at Tang Ling. His disdainful chuckle stated his attitude.

Anger, sadness, anxiety … The emotions that consumed his rationality drove Tang Ling to the brink of insanity. His vision was dyed red and every muscle and bone in his body seemed to be jumping at the same frequency as his pulse.

The irritating burning sensation swept over him even more fiercely. It felt like it was going to burst out of his skin.

Tang Ling roared madly as he raised his arm and threw a punch at the black-robed man.

The black-robed man did not care. He simply raised his hand as if he was trying to stop Tang Ling's punch with a ridiculous action.

However, his action was effective. Tang Ling froze as if he had rammed into a hard wall or fallen into a swamp.

Such a strange power!

But should he care? Tang Ling's brain could not think at the moment. The veins on his neck were bulging and the muscles on his arms were tightened to the limit. His heels sank deep into the mud. All he wanted to do was break free and punch the black-robed man's nose.

Tang Ling's eyes were terrifyingly red and the redness in his vision was getting thicker.
