The waters of the Lake of Darkness were a dark brown color, so deep that one couldn't see the bottom. Violet moonlight shone upon the surface of the lake, making it appear both sinister and terrifying.
"Big brother, this lake is so big. How are we going to find the location of the Fiend of the Night?"
Blumer was rather nervous as he followed Cheng Hao. Although he was now a Highgod, he had done so through fusing with a divine spark. He didn't have any confidence in his own power at all.
"No need to search. I'll make them come out on their own!"
Patting Blumer on the shoulders, Cheng Hao indicated for him to step back. Taking a step forward, he appeared above the surface of the lake. And then, with him at the center, an extremely cold aura began to spread out in every direction around the Lake of Darkness.
Crack! Crack!
Crack! As the extremely cold energy spread out, in just a few breaths' time, the entire Lake of Darkness, with a circumference of a thousand kilometers, began to freeze over. Based on the speed at which it was freezing, in just ten or so seconds, the entire lake would be transformed into a world of ice.
"Ah, so cold!"
"Who is it? Who is freezing the Lake of Darkness?"
"Quick, flee. A supreme expert is attacking the Lake of Darkness!"
Amidst the spreading cold energy, one figure after another charged out from the depths of the Lake of Darkness. Before they were completely frozen, they were lucky enough to escape.
"Arctic Tempest!"
Staring at the Deities who had escaped from the Lake of Darkness, Cheng Hao's face was calm. Lifting his hand, he pointed out with a finger. Instantly, the air above the Lake of Darkness was filled with countless icicles. They were like icy white bone spears, forming into a tempest of icicles.
The tempest of icicles transformed into a terrifying white vortex. Everywhere it passed, it tore apart souls. The dozens of figures who had escaped from the Lake of Darkness weren't even able to hold on for a single moment before they all perished in mid-air.
"Alright, mission accomplished!"
Landing next to Blumer, Cheng Hao waved his hand, and dozens of bracelets appeared in his hands. These were the items required for the Fiend trial.
After casually handing over all the extra bracelets to Blumer, Cheng Hao turned and nodded calmly towards the nearby middle-aged examiner who was looking towards them.
"The mission is complete. I have extra bracelets here. A million inkstones each. If you need them, you can come and buy them from my second brother!"
.....
The completion of the mission was beyond everyone's expectations. On the way back, the examinees who had previously ridiculed Cheng Hao were all panicking. They were afraid that if they were not careful, they would be killed by Cheng Hao, this mysterious expert, in the wilderness.
Cheng Hao couldn't be bothered to pay any attention to the terrified or fawning gazes directed at him. After indicating for Blumer to sell the mission bracelets, he closed his eyes and sat down. From start to finish, he didn't open his eyes again.
Seeing this, the other examinees on the metallic lifeform all let out sighs of relief. Towards the younger brother of this peerless expert, Blumer, the examinees were all extremely fawning over him. Some were trying to rope him in, some were trying to seduce him. This was the first time Blumer truly understood what it meant to have power above all else.
This sort of feeling of being fawned over, of being filled with awe and fear, was simply too wonderful!
A month later, they returned to the Fiend Castle of Royalwing City. Soon, Cheng Hao and Blumer received their Fiend badges.
After becoming a Fiend, Cheng Hao immediately accepted an escort mission to the Bloodridge Continent's Skymount Prefecture. He had nothing to do anyway, so he might as well accept a mission and do something to pass the time on the road.
The next morning, Cheng Hao and Blumer arrived at the city gates. The person who had issued the mission was already waiting there.
This was an old man with a head full of silver hair. Upon seeing the Fiend badges worn by Cheng Hao and Blumer, he hurriedly came forward to welcome them.
"The two of you, are you the Fiends who have accepted the escort mission to the Skymount Prefecture?"
"Yes!" Cheng Hao replied casually, then turned to look at the surrounding area. Around the city gates, there were dozens of Highgod level Fiends. This old man really was extravagant. To hire dozens of Highgod Fiends at once was quite a hefty sum!
"It's Lord Olivier. Lord Olivier has accepted this mission as well!"
Not too far away, several Highgod Fiends, upon discovering Cheng Hao's figure, called out in surprise. Their faces were filled with excitement, as though they had met their idol.
"Oh? You recognize me? "Cheng Hao turned his head, somewhat surprised, and asked calmly.
"Lord Olivier, on the day you applied for your Fiend badge, I was at the Fiend Castle handing in my mission as well. The story of how you single-handedly annihilated a Dark Night Fiend has long since spread amongst the Fiends of our Royalwing City!" A skinny young man with a single horn between his eyebrows walked up excitedly and said.
"So that's how it is!" Cheng Hao nodded in understanding, then turned to look at the old man who had issued the mission. "Is everyone here? If so, let's head out! "
"Milord, please wait a moment. There's still a Lord Learmonth who hasn't arrived yet!" The old man said rather nervously. He hadn't expected that the mission he had issued this time would actually result in the hiring of so many powerful Fiends.
This Olivier, of course, had been able to annihilate a Five Star Fiend with one blow. His power was most likely at the Six Star Fiend level. Even Lord Learmonth was a veteran Fiend expert of Royalwing City. His power had always been a mystery. Some believed that he had the power of a Six Star Fiend, while others believed that he was qualified to apply for a Seven Star Fiend mission. In short, he was extremely powerful.
"This mission only recruited fifty Highgod Fiends. I didn't expect that even two suspected Six Star Fiends would come. What a profit, what a profit!" The old man laughed to himself. He obediently stood by Cheng Hao's side, afraid that the latter would be dissatisfied and give up on this mission.
"Lord Learmonth, you've come."
Right at this moment, a voice rang out from the city gates. Cheng Hao turned to look, only to see a skinny, grim-looking youth with long blue hair walk over. He first greeted the old employer, then turned his gaze towards Cheng Hao.
"You are Olivier, the one who killed the Dark Night Fiend?"
"That's me!" Cheng Hao nodded.
Hearing this, the young man named Learmonth revealed a hint of a smile at the corners of his lips. "I didn't expect that I would encounter you on this mission. It seems this mission will be much easier!"
At this moment, the silver-haired old man laughed as he walked over. "Mr. Learmonth, Mr. Olivier, I'll have to trouble the two of you on this trip."
In the eyes of this silver-haired old man, he didn't care about the other Fiends at all. With these two Six Star Fiends present, the other Fiends were dispensable.
